I bought this CD after a friend gave me another Muzikas album, and I fell in love with Marta Sebestyen's lovely voice and the sound of those shimmering fiddles.
This particular recording is great because it features a fairly broad range of Hungarian folk music and the liner notes are quite extensive (unlike some other Muzikas recordings) which helps those of us unfamiliar with Hungarian music figure out, "What is that wonderful sound?"
Although much has been written about Sebestyen since "The English Patient," it is the instrumentalists who keep me interested. The heterophonic violin textures, the cymbalom and the funky hit-gardon sound unlike anything west of Lake Balaton.
