Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Songwriter and Canadian R&B diva Deborah Cox boldly pushes into a new direction on The Morning After offering comparatively few ballads as well as two songs aimed straight at the dance floor--the percussive rump-shaker "Up & Down (In & Out)" and the wildly caffeinated "Mr Lonely". That both appear in myriad remixed versions on an accompanying CD makes Cox's intent clear. Still, fans of the singer's earlier, softer sounds aren't completely shut out--"Hurt So Much" is anguish as a state of mind, while the lush, octave-defying "Play Your Part" puts the passive-aggressive relationship into focus. Sisters get an anthem in "Starting with You", which best captures Cox's overriding messages of affirmation and individuality. Of course, with a voice this boundless and beautiful, Cox could make the white pages sound tingly. That she strives for something more makes The Morning After worth hearing. --Kim Hughes

It's such a shame that Deborah has not had the success in the UK as her counterparts Whitney and Mariah. She has a much better voice than the forementioned and knows how to use it without all the screaching and wailing.

To the album. Well, it's her 3rd album and her best to date. Her first two albums all had weak spots (not to say that they too weren't great albums) where as 3 years in the making seems to have paid of for this exceptional album.

It has something for everyone. Great ballads, Cool R'n'B and Deborah's trademark dance remixes tagged on the end for good measure.

There are lots of standout tracks on the album. However The Morning After, Mr.Lonely and Starting With You are fantastic original songs.

I would recommend this album to anyone who loves a great voice with good material thats show how good the vocalist is.

Buy it....you wont be disappointed!

So If you haven't heard of Deborah Cox, where have you been. This woman has a voice like an angel and yet she still hasn't the commercial success like Ashanti or Ciara who's talents are good but are on the commercial r'n'b/Hip-Hop band wagon. However Deborah Cox should be in that field not because she's decided to jump on the band wagon but because she deserves to be there and this album proves it!

The Morning After starts where the One Wish album left off and once again Ms Cox explores themes relevant to everyday life from the first time of meetin a guy and falling in love on tracks 'Oh My Gosh' to resolving issues 'Up and Down'(remix included)'The Morning After'to in depth issues of domestic violence of a best friend in raising self-esteem'Starting With You'plus my favourite song on the album that enpowers strength after a lover leaves on 'Like I Did'and believe me you won't help but dance and feel the track thank-you Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins who co-wrote/produced the track!

In all this album is one that explores every emotion and one that we can all relate too, and believe me after playing it at night I was defiently talking and thinking about it "The Morning After".

Well Done Deborah..........

Deborah.. I Thank U! 13 Dec 2003

Thank U.. for keeping real rnb fans sane these past years.

Her voice is "oh my gosh.." too sweet and smooth, up and down till show ya'll that, the jadakiss remix got some airplay.. but deserved way more..

She always deserves more tho. All her songs in my view, could be number ones, the beats, lyrics and vocals are always spot on.. and shes not even all typical, heartbreak/love songs, she always caters for parties producing get-up-outa-ya-seat an dance tunes (mr.lonely)

over-all one of the best albums u'll hear this year
