I'm a porridge convert BUT..... was becoming a tad tired of the usual paste like consistency associated with some of the larger brands. For ages I've been buying my breakfast (£2.35 a small hot pot, I hasten to add!!!) from a well known, French named, coffee & sandwich chain as I adored the jumbo oats they used. Now no longer as I did my research and found this, on sale here.
The quality is fantastic, love the texture and the creaminess these oats generate is delicious. One thing I would say is that they are 10 times better cooked on the hob. Microwaving is ok but I found that the milk keeps boiling over well before cooking the oats through. So it's very slow cooked in a pan for me.......I LOVE IT and it's superb fuel for my new running bug.

I have porridge for breakfast most mornings, simply because its healthy and with a couple of other ingredients thrown in can be really delicious too! (chopped banana, cinnamon and honey is my current favourite).

I find the majority of types of porridge end up as a gloopy paste which just isn't very pleasant, so I always try and go for the jumbo oats. These retain a certain degree of their structural integrity after cooking so it feels more like a meal and less like wall paper paste!

This brand is fine - it is the type of oats that I am advocating rather than Mornflake themselves, but they seem to be good quality and reasonably priced compared to other brands.

Oats as they are meant to be. What I can't figure out is why is it so easy to find this product via Amazon, but it is not available in the regular grocery stores/supermarkets. Oh well, Amazon gets the business!

Anyway, preparation tip: Oats don't need to be cooked. Boiling them only turns them into something akin to wall-paper paste. I just soak them in water (just enough to cover) that has been boiled for 5 minutes which is until they have absorbed the water, add oat bran and some fruit.

Porridge made with this product has a real texture (no wallpaper paste here!). Also excellent as a base for muesli..

Choosing "Mornflake" Oats is a no brainer for me, it has more taste, the texture is good, although these Jumbo oats did take a little longer to cook but so worth it. Living in mid-wales does sometime prove difficult to obtain "Mornflake"products, but fortunately Ican always find them on Amazon.

A bag of oats is a bag of oats, but having bought a few different varieties of jumbo oats over the years I can say that these are superior to most, if not all, other brands. The taste and texture is excellent. These jumbo oats were also superb value for money, which comes with buying in bulk. The best before date was ten months after the date of delivery if you're worried about buying a relatively large quantity. Highly recommended product.

I used to buy these oats from the supermarket but when I moved I couldn't find them locally available, so thanks Amazon for stocking these! I use these oats for homemade museli and they work really well. Lovely texture and firm bite, they also taste pretty good! I've yet to try these as porridge oats but as other reviewers have covered this I imagine they up to it.

Needed a good quality replacement for a Sainsbury's own product that had it's recipe changed very recently to a porridge that feels like the instant kind in comparison after more than a decade and this is it. Super! and is what is required by someone with a high metabolism and heavy exercise regime to keep them fuller for longer. Please be around forever.

My wife and I love porridge for breakfast and this brand is the one we like most. This is real porridge, not the fast cook, tasteless slurry that purports to be food. We normally buy it from our local supermarket at £0.95 for 500gms but by buying in bulk from Amazon we massively reduced this price.
We can store the product safely until we consume it after which we shall reorder.
If you like real porridge this is the one to buy.

These are the bestest oats ever! Creamy yet chewy. I always eat my oats uncooked, with 3 dried or medjool dates chopped small and half coconut milk and half soya milk, and these oats are so delish, they put the others to shame. I only recently discovered that these wholegrain oats were available, rather than the other Mornflake in the supermarkets which are not wholegrain. Glad I found them. Try them you won't be disappointed.
