Ms Michaels certainly delivers with this DVD but be warned you will need a multiregional DVD reader as it is a US import.
I have only just embarked on this enterprise in my life of 61 years: how to change shape and still remain alive.
Uptil now I have used the gym and Davina's Super Body Workout. The super body still remains allusive but I feel much better.
This is quite a lot tougher than Davina's contributions to the genre. The 40 minutes can be broken up but what would be the point? You buy this DVD because she is tough as has been said in all the previous reviews.
But she scores in other ways. In Davina's the production values are high: nice bright, cheerful but there are Davina's comments that can grate when you have heard them several times. More annoying is the zooming in on the celebrity so that you can no longer see what the total exercise is meant to be. Ms Michaels does not make these mistakes. You can see exactly what she is wanting and this is backed up by very clear descriptions of the muscle groups being tested with well timed warnings. She is a trainer not a celebrity. And when you have heard it all and you could recite it in your sleep you can turn the commentary off.
This DVD is excellent but I will have to keep telling myself this for some time as I struggle through it.
Don't be put off if you are a newcomer to this. She hints at ways that exercises can be modified and anyhow we can all use our common sense and know when to ease up.

I absoloutely love this workout. It is really tough. I have also got the 30 day shred DVD which I thought was hard but this workout is even better. I think I actually prefer this one.
This really gets you sweating hard and really works you hard especially the shoulders, they have become really toned since doing this DVD. This DVD has barely any breaks and the majority of it is based on the hand weights. I have definately become more leaner since using this DVD and I can guarantee if you want to lose weight and get into great shape then this is the DVD to buy. I can actually see my abs coming through, as her stomach exercises especially the plank ones she uses are an absolute killer.

Don't think about it, if you want to increase your stamina and "get shredded" as Jillian would say, get this DVD along with Banish Fat Boost Metabolism (Full) [DVD] [2009] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC
A few basics that you should be aware of: if you want to play this on your television through your DVD player, you will need a multi region player or a code to unlock your particular player(as mentioned in previous reviews). Or do what I do and just play the thing on your lap-top, much less hassle. Secondly, the seller that I bought from was very speedy in getting the DVDs to me, with no problems and great packaging (and such a good price).
If you have bought and used Jillian's Jillian Michaels - 30 Day Shred [DVD] [2007]then you will know to expect a circuit format; other reviewers have explained the system, which is a set of 5 (I think!) exercises per circuit, repeated twice, for 8 circuits. The workout (excluding warm-up and cooldown) is 40 minutes as opposed to the 20 minutes of the 30 day shred. You will need handweights (3lb should do it - that's what Jillian uses for this workout) and an exercise mat. This workout (unlike 30 day shred) is solely strengthening and toning and so you will need to couple this with a cardio workout (hence Banish Fat Boost Metabolism).
This workout is all about strengthening and toning, but don't for a minute think it's all deep breathing and stretching. These exercises are hard, definitely up a level from the 30 day shred and of course the workout is twice as long.

Once again Jillian delivers with a heart pounding, sweat drenching workout that does exactly what it says it will.
It does use weights in a lot of the workouts so is recommended to people who are already quite fit.
Love it.

Remember that you dont need to buy a new multi region dvd player to play usa dvds.
You just need the unlocking code for your dvd.

If you are looking for a workout that will test your strength and enduraance then this is a DVD you should have. The circuits are repeated twice, there are no breaks and the moves target every area that most people worry about. I have been working out for most of my life, but still find this DVD really gets my sweating and the next day i feel it!!!!

Jillian is awesome. This is pretty tough circuit training, but I know I will see results. Really happy with it.

I've watched biggest loser for a while now and have always been impressed by jillian's workouts. This dvd was a gift for my fiancee as she wished to tone up and its easy to follow structure was ideal.

I purchased this with a bit of trepidation having seen Jillian bark instructions on The Biggest Loser! I'm glad to say she does not bark on this DVD.

The workout is in 7 6-minute circuits. You use weights, I believe she uses 3llbs (hope it wasn't kgs)and this certainly gets a burn in the shoulders. It's a workhout that will get you sweating very early on and certainly had me out of breath the first time I did it - now I just sweat!

The exercises are pretty straight-forward, however Jillian does give some 'easy' options for beginners. As another reviewer says, you think (especially towards the end) you can't do anymore, but it is only 6 minutes per circuit! - sneak a quick water break if you have as it does move from circuit to circuit without a break.
