More stars! 15 May 2002
By Lanny Kaufer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This album is as close to a masterpiece as humanly possible. It's the '"magnum opus" of an uncompromising artist who has reached beyond himself with every new effort. Each song has a different rhythm, a refreshingly unique feel, complemented by the perfect solo instruments. If you know LKJ's music, you know the rhythm section is always the dreadest. The poetry is awesome, piercing and beautiful. The unmistakable trance-inducing voice of the poet just grows better with age and experience. After 40 years of listening to jazz, blues, reggae and much more, and having followed LKJ's career from "Dread Beat An' Blood" to "More Time," I need more stars to rate this album. I dare you to listen to "Liesense Fi Kill" as far as the electric violin solo without pushing the repeat button. Buy this record and support Linton Kwesi Johnson's first album on his own label.

transcendent!!! 29 Oct 2003
By andrew l'amour - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
where to begin. there is nothing else like this. this transcends all that has come before. it is the ultimate fusion of rock, jazz, blues, reggae, dub. lkj's voice, the music, and poetic observations of life around him and the community he shares transcends his immediate surroundings and reaches out to all realms of mankind. what he sees there is seen everywhere; thanks to the artist and his abilities.
thank you lkj for sharing yourself. nowhere have i heard such a fascinating blend of superior musical and poetic talent matching note for word to produce a sound that is its own. unique in every way. one can easily be drawn in by the steady beat, the hypnotic vocal intonations, the other musical instruments (lkj's voice is also indeed an instrument here) weaving their way in, around and through the poetry. drawn in to become one with the artist and his work. five stars? ten stars? the heavens do not have enough stars to adequately rate this!! enjoy it. be one with it. become all with it!!!

LKJ Still Going Strong 25 Jun 2001
By John Tardiff - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Just a fine recording. As usual, John Kpiaye plays some outstanding guitar. The song Hurricane Blues is haunting. While this is nominally a reggae band, how often do you hear solos with a flute another song features some strong Violin work.
LKJ has an awesome and unique voice, couple this with his lyrics and the musicians and you have a great combination.

An excellent new release from LKJ 24 Sep 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
The recent addition to LKJ's poetry is this beauty. Nine excellent tracks some of which are quite similar to his previous release "Tings an Times". Track one "More Time" is brilliant, but hats off to track 8 "Seasons of the heart" with some classic LKJ poetry. Do yourself a favour and pick it up!
Amazing 14 Oct 1999
By Phillip Salisbury (phillbuca11@hotmail.com) - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I always felt reggae and it's deviations has more humanity then any other musical form. It is political, as well as compassionate. Linton has a magical way with words that I have seldom seen in artists. His blend of instruments re-defines the way we listen to music. Words cannot express the sound I can only urge you to give it a try. "More Time" is perhaps the friendliest of sounds, for the beginner to listen to, also try "Liesense Fi Kill". His words speak of injustices in England but can easily be transferred to the American Spectrum.
