Very disappointing - if you are looking for a gritty accurate tale - then don't look here. This books seems to turn from what appears to be a realistic story into a fairy story where the poor cinderella girl eventually gets her prince. Left me feeling as if it has cheated all those women who are truly struggling in a grim world - the underlying tale this tells is of a girl who does good in a difficult situation and then is rewarded by being saved by her prince (who - surprise surprise isn't really a true baddie but is in fact very rich) and she gets to live the rest of her life like a princess. (And they all live happily ever after!!!!)

Gabriel's kidnapped, trafficked from Manila to Malaysia . The story or stories to be precise as ther are four separate stories all intertwined with each other. It's a valued attempt to get some justice for the invisible three million women and children stolen each year that just vanish, forced into the seedy underworld without choice or financial gain, made to face years of sexual servitude with little hope of rescue, this book lifts the reader from the depths of debasement to the heights of euphoria which will leave the reader with a desire to to try to get involved to end this callous vicious cycle of misery and sadness.

Having studied human trafficking I found the way that this book was written extremely naive and I could not read right through to the end. It brushes over many issues and is very hard to believe, and I found this to be offensive towards people who have actually suffered through being trafficked.

I was really enjoying this book, not wanting to put it down but sadly towards the end the storyline became such a rush and totally incomprehensible - it was "what happened, have I missed a chapter?"

This book is incredible. Everyone needs to read it, become informed and dissatisfied that human trafficking is so rife...and then respond to the call for action. Indeed; what are YOU doing to help?

Pamala Chestnut
Human Trafficking
More Than Rice.
This book is as the title suggests More Than Rice, it is about human trafficking and the underworld. Girls are kidnapped and sent into the "brothels" to work. We are following Gabriela after she is stolen from outside her work in Manilla. She is then blindfolded and taken to another country.
Gabriela is so good looking she has been selected to be part of Saku's harem, she then has to work in the kitchen and laundry instead of being sexually abused. A very good read.
4 stars. 05 February 2015.

What a fantastic book, this has really made me think and be grateful for the life I have lived, but also so sad to think that there are so many young girls out there having their lives ruined by some sick perverts. I wish you all freedom and peace.
