About the Author

An experienced chef and consultant, Robin Robertson worked for many years in restaurants and catering in South Carolina. In 1988, she left the restaurant business and rededicated her life to writing and teaching gourmet vegan cooking. The author of 19 vegan and vegetarian cookbooks, Robin is a 25-year veteran restaurant chef, caterer, columnist, cooking teacher, and food writer. She writes "The Global Vegan" column for VegNews Magazine and was a contributing editor and columnist for Vegetarian Times.

I absolutely love the book. The only problem is deciding what to make first. I have had excellent results with each recipe, something I have become accustomed to with Robin Robertson. Robin's books belong in every kitchen!

Much better than her first Quick Fix Vegan. I have the first one and was not very happy with it. I left a review of that first one that the author had some issue with, but it appears that my point (and that of others) was listened to and the issue was addressed successfully in this one.

My issue with the first book was that the majority of the recipes were for things that normally don't take more than 30 minutes...sauces, condiments, salads, sandwiches, etc., plus a whole chapter of things that the author readily admitted required well over 30 minutes of prep time plus well over 30 minutes of bake time. The chapters on sauces and condiments, salads, and longer prep/cook recipes from the first book are entirely gone in this book and the remaining chapters focus more on entree's that you can get to the table in under 30 minutes.

After my experience with the first book, I was a bit apprehensive when someone gave me this one, but I'm glad they did. I have almost every vegan book Ms. Robertson has written and have always enjoyed her recipes. She does use a lot of ingredients, but I'm ok with that as I like more complex flavor profiles that you can't find in most recipes that only have a few ingredients. You will have to have more than 30 minutes to clean up as you tend to use a lot of pans, bowls, measuring devices, etc. when cooking her recipes. It loses a point due to photography, or lack thereof. I know that's probably the choice of the publisher rather than the author but I still like glossy gorgeous photo's of food.

So, all in all, I'm pleased with this one and feel that Ms. Robertson listened to what I and others had to say in regards to her first one.

Simple and delicious is spot on! I've made several dishes from the book so far. As usual, there is one recipe that would be worth the price of the book alone and in this book it's the Guacamole Soup! Absolutely delish! But let's not leave out the Falafel Stuffed Portabellos, Mediterranean Polenta Pie, Chimichurri Quinoa Bowls. Succotash Fritters, or Tofu and Green Beans with Hoisin-Almond Sauce.
And I can't wait to try the Fruidites with Coconut-Pineapple DIp, Dessert Chips with Fresh Fruit Salsa, Antipasto Tart, Bahn-mi Noodles, or Hummus Soup!
There's something for everyone in this book - so you can't go wrong.

My husband and I don't have a lot of time to cook, so this book is perfect for us. The recipes aren't too complicated and the instructions are easy to follow. But best of all, the results are fabulous! We especially like the pad thai primavera and creamy sesame soba stir-fry. Another gem by the talented Robin Robertson.
