My issue with the first book was that the majority of the recipes were for things that normally don't take more than 30 minutes...sauces, condiments, salads, sandwiches, etc., plus a whole chapter of things that the author readily admitted required well over 30 minutes of prep time plus well over 30 minutes of bake time. The chapters on sauces and condiments, salads, and longer prep/cook recipes from the first book are entirely gone in this book and the remaining chapters focus more on entree's that you can get to the table in under 30 minutes.
After my experience with the first book, I was a bit apprehensive when someone gave me this one, but I'm glad they did. I have almost every vegan book Ms. Robertson has written and have always enjoyed her recipes. She does use a lot of ingredients, but I'm ok with that as I like more complex flavor profiles that you can't find in most recipes that only have a few ingredients. You will have to have more than 30 minutes to clean up as you tend to use a lot of pans, bowls, measuring devices, etc. when cooking her recipes. It loses a point due to photography, or lack thereof. I know that's probably the choice of the publisher rather than the author but I still like glossy gorgeous photo's of food.
So, all in all, I'm pleased with this one and feel that Ms. Robertson listened to what I and others had to say in regards to her first one.
And I can't wait to try the Fruidites with Coconut-Pineapple DIp, Dessert Chips with Fresh Fruit Salsa, Antipasto Tart, Bahn-mi Noodles, or Hummus Soup!
There's something for everyone in this book - so you can't go wrong.
