I loved Kristina McGowan's first book, and this second one is just as good, if not better. So much inspiration...

Worth the price for a change! 13 Dec. 2013
By Janet Camp - Published on Amazon.com

I’ve already made the sweatpants and will start the skirt next. Every pattern is great, which is unusual for these books. Many are really just picture books full of fairly impractical items that are so highly styled that an ordinary person would never pull off such a look. This book, while wonderful to look at, maintains a practicality that is much appreciated.

artsy book but multiple errors and no support; have any of 5* raters tried KNITTING the patterns yet: I have ! 10 Nov. 2013
By Eowyn - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
OK, some errors are obvious: one cable's instructions are backwards (I saw that) and K2T and SSK decrease knitting, not increase it (I even got that one) but what do you do when charts don't line up from yoke to collar and the photographs (even though there are two of them for my pattern) exactly obscure that transition portion of the project that you need to see (nice art but not so helpful as a closeup would have been).

Fellow reviewers : which patterns have you knitted that you think the instructions are clearly written? The two I have tried are really obtuse and in one case, backwards twice. Almost as if the person writing the pattern thinks in reverse (a left handed knitter maybe? Saying that because one of my students was a leftie and I had to "translate" and transpose patterns to help her). But there's no excuse for telling people to K2T and SSK to increase width. That is not a typo. That is bad conceptualization.

As for friendly and responsive, I asked for clarification on three parts of a pattern on Jan 19, 2013 and there is still no response on my question, except author said she will check with her technical editor and get back to me. But, as of Feb 3, nada. Am I wrong: is it not a fair question to ask an author offering patterns for $27.50 retail, why things don't line up? You have to wait for someone in the tech ed department to get back to her? Is knitting getting too business driven?

I don't think any of the other reviewers have KNITTED the patterns yet-- I can tell by the glowing over the top phrases--it's nice to have fans-- or they might change their glowing praise to a bit more caution. Patterns have to look cool, you bet, but they have to make sense and work out too. Otherwise, why are we knitters paying for more and more books every day. Hmmmm....

Fantastic designs, with unique feminine embellishments. The book quality is great, the patterns are very versatile, for age taste and season. The writer is also ver friendly and approachable if you contact her.
Her previous modern top down knitting book is quite great too!

I can't knit at all, but I purchased this for a friend off her Amazon wish list and put post it notes on the MANY pages she will be making for me...complete with measurements!
I'm sure an accomplished knitter...or friend of an accomplished knitter...would appreciate this.
