i admit i was a bit dubious when jerry dammers decided not to join the reformed specials.
i had been a fan since the early days and i thought that his input was essential for their success.
after seeing them on the first leg of the tour my fears were groundless.
they were fantastic live and terry hall is an amazing talent.
now after last years dvd we have a new compilation cd of the shows.
if you were there you will want this, if not you can find out what you missed.

I must admit that my heart sank a tad when I started reading the liner notes for this CD...all the recordings were taken from various shows on their 2011 tour. However, those concerns soon proved to be unfounded. The Specials may no longer have Jerry Dammers within their ranks but they seem to have lost none of their power and this is a truly blistering set. The sound quality is top notch and Messrs Hall, Staples, Panter, Bradbury, Golding and the wonderfully named Roddy Radiation sound as if they're having the time of their lives...as do the fans. Highly recommended!

Having seen The Specials play a two-header with The Beat at The Ulster Hall, Belfast back in '81, I too was as dubious as some of the other reviewers here when the band reformed for an "anniversary" tour back in 2009. How could they possibly be as good as they were way back then? And without Jerry Dammers to provide that added injection of humour into their performances?

So I headed off to St Georges Market, Belfast in November 2009 to see if they could crack it. And boy, did they crack it. Alright, it was a set comprised entirely of tracks from the two original albums, plus the singles that never made it onto the albums (and are now included on cd re-releases). But the energy. The professionalism. This was how a concert should be - the band belting out song after song etched onto firmly into the memory banks of the faithful as one, almost 30 years after their first appearance in our divided city. It left me starving for more.

When I heard they were playing the Belsonic festival in Belfast in 2011 it was a no-brainer. Ticket bought the morning of release, not even a knee op a few weeks prior to the gig could stop me from going. What a let down. The band was still as hot, the performance still breathtaking. But every song was the same, and even performed in the same order, as the 2009 gig. This was a band trading on nostalgia. A tribute act to their own works, like so many "80's" acts before them. Even the dvd was the same.

So I stumbled across this cd quite by accident and was amazed to see Pearl's Cafe, International Jet Set and Guns Of Navarone all included.

I would recommend this to anyone who was at their gigs as a reminder of how awesome they continue to be, also for those who were not....You missed some truly memorable gigs. Great to have live versions of Pearls Cafe and international Jet Set after far to long a wait. Hope they tour again soon and fingers crossed for some new material. Keep going boys. Stay rude.

Great double CD - your head will be bobbing and foot tapping along to all the great classic specials tracks on this CD. If you were ever into the specials then this is a must buy.

I was lucky enough to see the Specials during one of their original tours. It was hard to believe that they were around for barely 2 years back then and that by '81 , the original line-up had gone. Over the years we have probably had released to us just about everything they ever played , including the recent release of one of their first gigs, Live at the Moonlight Club.
Moonlight Club is a great live album especially for those of us whom , were lucky enough to see them back in those days, however , More or Less is a far more exciting album as the reformed Specials rifle through their back catalogue of songs , we are very much enthralled by the performances here. .
Rather than record one show , in it's entirety , the band have selected the best tracks from the best shows. You're Wondering Now , is a truely outstanding performance and is the best rendition of this song I've ever heard. If anyone knows which venue they played it at , please let me know . .
If you like the Specials at all, this is definatley a MUST have for your collection. Personally , I'd give it 10 stars. .
I'm really looking forward to seeing them again in May. .

If you were lucky enough to witness the concert live, this cd is a must for those who want to relive their experiences from the tour. The sound quality is excellent, with the best tracks from different nights of the tour being used, covering every track performed.
So good to see the Specials reform, even better to have a new cd that captures the atmosphere.

What a brilliant album. The energy is just pouring out of every song. Some live albums are of dubious quality but the sound is excellent.
