Product Description

It's a world where everything might seem pretty normal. But the weird, the surprising and the truly terrifying are lurking just out of sight. Like a hitchhiker who isn't quite all he seems, a spooky cottage with a grisly secret and a mobile phone that lets you contact the dead! Each story has a shocking sting in the tale...

About the Author

Anthony Horowitz was brought up on horror stories and his childhood love of all things sinister and scary has stayed with him. He says, 'I think everyone enjoys horror. Not necessarily dead bodies and dripping blood, but the shadows that lie just outside our vision, the secrets behind closed doors.'
Anthony is the author of many very successful children's books, most notably the Alex Rider series, the most recent of which Stormseeker achieved the No 1 spot in the Neilsen charts. Anthony is also well known as a television screen writer with credits that include Poirot, Midsomer Murders, Chiller, and Foyle's War.
Anthony has two grown up sons, and lives in east London with his wife.

When I first picked up this book I thought it was going to be another tacky "horror" collection. But I was amazed, at how well Anthony manages to write the stories and yet change the endings so often at the last minute. There are plenty of laughs in this collection, and as the reviewer before me said, the last story (the world's shortest horror story) is the best one, I think.

Buy this book anywhere you can, whether it be amazon or a crummy bookshop on the outskirts of a crummy town!

Terrific so far! 18 July 2007
By Josh
Format:Paperback
I do not own this book (yet).
But, I have a friend who let me borrow it for a short space of time to scan through and read some - and sure enough it looks terrific. I love the 'terrifying' storylines that it comprises, and also love the wicked taglines, like 'do not read in bed', or another favourite ... 'more stories you'll wish you'd never read'. They are so fetching, and almost "invite" you to read it - and whoever's looking, do.

Anthony Horowitz knows how to create suspense, and knows how to draw the clients in - More Horowitz Horror is a fantastic book!
The first chapter, The Hitchhiker, well - you can already see what route that's taking! A hitchhiker may well hi-jack the car and kill you - or something else that makes you well frightened!
But, come on ... we all know that being scared of horror stories is for wusses!

Format:Paperback
This collection of horror stories from the infamous author of the Alex Rider and Diamond Brother collections brings together Anthony Horowitz's talents of excitement, emotion, tension and most of all, tantalising twists.

The eagerness behind each story brings out the tension and emotions of young teens as they experience heaven and hell, a haunted cottage, a spooked phone, a criminal's revenge, a hitchhiker and many more!

The black humour behind the stories combines beautifully with the emotion the characters are feeling to give each short story a high sense of realism. But what captures each fantastic story are the last few pages. There are ALWAYS a few lines which have the reader thinking `Absolutely gruesomely brilliant!' readers will always be left with many questions dangling from their spellbound minds as they reluctantly can't find the answers to some of the stories. `What's going to happen next?' is the way I felt after reading each one.

The story which had me thinking the most was the last one. `The shortest horror story ever written' The way this short story has been written is beautiful. It leaves many questions inside the reader's minds, gaining their appreciation for the story but still eager for more.

Definatley readable.
