Product Description

With the summer beckoning, life in France seems the ultimate dream for all of us rosbifs. But behind the sun, the wine, and the beautifully honey-coloured houses what is the reality of actually living in France? Based on her own experiences, those of her friends and of the many readers who write in to her Sunday Times column French Mistress, Powell tells the story of the daily passions in La Douce France warts and all in a fresh, fast and humorous narrative.

Bit of a rehash 13 May 2012
By BrianC
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Given that HF-P has been away from the Languedoc for a few years, the age of this collection shows, with some of her info well out of date. It is basically a rehash of her Sunday Times articles interspersed with extra nuggets left over from her first book about the region.

Having said that, Helena's style is never less than insightful and amusing, and hence it's worth getting, but don't expect the freshness and streetwise advice of "More France please . . ."
