Product Description

Product Description

Two young cats, Fannie and Titus, having been born and brought up as devoted sisters in the previously tranquil surroundings of Moon Cottage, suddenly find they have to deal with the vigorous disruption of the usurper Pushkin, a young Russian Blue tom kitten. Pushkin establishes his own ground rules for his survival in this female feline fastness, but there are many obstacles to be overcome in the struggle for co-existence amongst the three cats. At no point in this narrative, which is at times funny and at others touching, do the cats ever lose their feline integrity.

The author, on the one hand, lovingly captures the details of her cats’ behaviour and examines topics such as feline jealousy, emotional security and the degrees of affection a cat may feel for its human companion and on the other hand raises many of the issues that cat lovers themselves experience, such as the anguish of deciding “house-cat” or “free-roaming”, the pain of cats going missing, the empathy of nursing a cat through illness and the great privilege of loving and being loved in return by those extraordinary animals who remain among us and yet are not of us.

The book is, again, magnificently illustrated by the artist Peter Warner.

Having thoroughly enjoyed Cats of Moon Cottage last year, this is a beautifully written and superbly illustrated sequel that has been well-worth waiting for. The author's way of describing what we all see in cats but cannot put into words is spell-binding. Also Peter Warner is, I believe, one of the very few people who can capture the image of the cat in almost near-perfection. A writer who deserves to go further - this will not disappoint any feline fanatics!

5.0 out of 5 stars MORE CAT MAGIC!!!, 3 Mar 2008
This review is from: More Cat Tales from Moon Cottage (Hardcover)
Another wonderful book about Marilyn Edward's family and friends and her cats, Fannie,Titus and Pushkin.
Delightfully illustrated by the late Peter Warne who drew the cats so well that you can almost hear them purr!!
Sad in parts, like the time they were burgled and found their house ransacked. I can fully sympathise with that as we have been burgled in the past and know that it is heartbreaking to find lots of your personal possessions missing and the rest left scattered everywhere. Everything feels dirty. No wonder it upset the cats!
There is also a lot of humour in the book including the story of the cat who stole a kebab in a pitta bread complete with salad!!

A *MUST READ* FOR ANYONE WHO LOVES CATS.

This review is from: More Cat Tales from Moon Cottage (Hardcover)
As excellent as the first of the proposed triology. Gripping and amazingly described in a feline way that I had never thought of before. Anyone who doesn't pick this book up to read it needs to think twice. Can't say anything else apart from...BUY IT!!!
