Book Description

From the pen of 2013 BAFTA nominee (Outstanding Debut: Wild Bill) Danny King comes a comic crime tale that'll have you laughing all the way to your community service. Bex and Ollie are a couple of small-time burglars. They scratch a living robbing shops, burgling factories and emptying offices around the back-water town of Tatley.
Bex is the brains, Ollie drives the van.
Neither are particularly ambitious, preferring instead to think small and live comfortably, rather than aim high and risk time. The lads don’t have it all their own way though; ‘Weasel’ of CID is only one faltering step behind them, the local criminal competition will do anything to stitch them up and the loves of their lives are wondering what the hell they’ve done to deserve them.

Things are about to finally catch up with Bex and Ollie.

I jumped out of my seat with excitement when this landed on my desk. The chapters were utterly hysterical!

From the Publisher

Danny King is one of the best comic crime writers in Britain today. His understated prose and subtle, yet effective, comic timing complement his effortless grasp of how life is for the majority of the British working classes at this moment in time. This is an excellent novel.

More About the Author

Danny King is an award-winning British novelist and screenwriter.

Born in Slough, United Kingdom in 1969 he has worked as a hod carrier, a supermarket shelf stacker, a painter & decorator, a postman and a magazine editor and today uses these rich experiences to dodge all of the aforementioned. He has written 14 books to date, eight of which were originally published by Serpent's Tail, two by Byker Books, as well as screenplays for both the big and small screens.

His first book, The Burglar Diaries, won the 2002 Amazon.co.uk Writers' Bursary Award and was the basis of his BBC sitcom, Thieves Like Us (2007). And his first feature film, Wild Bill, won both the 2012 Writers' Guild of Great Britain Award and a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut.

He lives in Chichester, West Sussex with wife, Jeannie and two children and divides his time between writing and wondering what to write about. For further details go to dannykingbooks.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back with a bang! 31 Jan. 2010
By Toonlad
Format:Paperback
As a big fan of Danny King and having recently read 'Blue Collar' - which I liked incidentally - I approached this book with a little trepidation as I worried that maybe Danny had been seduced by the dark side of 'mainstream' fiction. As it turned out I needn't have worried, 'More Burglar Diaries' sees him, and us, back on familiar territory as loveable scumbags Bex and Ollie blunder their way through peoples houses and businesses with often hilarious results. The best part for me though is the almost throwaway one-liners that pepper this book. Most (inferior) writers would make a big thing of these quality lines but King has so many up his sleeve that he just throws them into conversations with no build up at all which, for me, makes them all the funnier. An excellent tome - nice one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious! 14 Mar. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
More Burglar Diaries won't have you pondering the infinite. It won't bring you any answers to the deep philosophical question of life such as: Why is there never a complete pair of socks in my sock drawer? Why does the wife keep moving everything around? Where is the TV remote? What it will do, if you're not careful, is have you spraying the tuna sandwich you were eating across the nearest wall or hapless old lady who just happens to be in front of you on the bus (sorry Ethel).

Bex and his hapless sidekick Ollie blunder from one botched burglary to another creating mayhem as they go. The dialogue is smart and hilarious. In particular Bex's wisecracks guarantee more than a chortle a chapter. The running gags are excellent. On the face of it a lighthearted comical read but King effortlessly weaves in little twists to the various jobs the boys find themselves on. A great mix of recurring characters witty banter and slapstick humour.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh-out loud funny...again! 22 Nov. 2013

I have to be honest right up front and say I've read most of Danny King's other books and I'm a fan. When I saw this one as a free download for my Kindle, I didn't have to think twice. I began reading immediately after it was complete and the first chapter had me laughing out loud just as I remember doing with his previous Diaries.

If you've read Danny King's other books, this won't disappoint, and if you've not read them, download this one and give it a go; you never know, you might just like it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good read 10 Dec. 2013

This was a very intriguing & different read. Don't read it if you are easily shocked, especially by bad language. I thoroughly enjoyed the mad story of the burglar, his mates & his long-suffering girlfriend. Very funny & I couldn't put it down. I promptly found some more books by this author to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Every page made me laugh 25 Nov. 2013

Great book, easy to read and it brightened my day knowing I had it to read later. The escapades that the main characters get up to are believable and hilarious. Snappy dialogue and sharp comebacks are a bonus, highly recommended as some light reading to give you a chuckle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, mainly light-hearted, read 30 Dec. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Apparently based on a TV series, which I haven't seen, the books details the adventures, and misadventures, of a young burglar and his mates. A wry look at the life of people who luckily form only a small minority of the overall population but who form a significant part of certain strata of Society. One can't help but feel a certain sympathy of the young burglar although at the end of the day, the one person one feels for most is his then girlfriend, Mel, who, of all things, is a solicitor's clerk. But then the line between the burglary profession and the legal profession is often very thin, and sometimes invisible! Still, a good, light-hearted read and worth a few hours of your time.
