Format: DVD
Made in 2010 and screened over three nights just before Christmas on commercial network TV4, Morden i Sandhamn was a ratings success for the channel. Earlier in 2012, there were reports in the Swedish press that production would soon start on another mystery from the Sandhamn series.
Sandhamn is a location in the Stockholm archipelago (a group of picturesque islands a short journey from the Swedish capital) and the central point of events in a series of (so far 5) detective stories featuring DCI Thomas Andreasson written by Viveca Sten. Sadly none of these have been translated into English (yet).
Starring as Thomas Andreasson is Swedish born, Danish raised Jakob Cedergren who will be recognisable to viewers of recent Danish dramas The Killing - Series 1-3 [DVD] and Those Who Kill - Series 1 [DVD]. In The Killing he played Mayor Bremer's assistant Philip Dessau while he played the lead role of Thomas Schaeffer in Those Who Kill, as seen on ITV3 in the UK. In Morden i Sandhamn, multi-lingual Cedergren speaks in Swedish throughout.
It's a decent mystery with a satisfying conclusion. Hopefully the other four stories will be available sometime soon to enjoy too.

Update Oct 2012 - a UK distributor has acquired the series for distribution in the UK and I would not be surprised if BBC4 end up buying it. Two further mysteries have now been filmed and will screen in Sweden at the end of the year with a DVD release soon after.

This is very picturesque. With my new upgraded TV, this was really pretty to watch. What I really liked was that they did a nice job of getting to the point. The story was very good with a surprise ending. I am tempted to get the novel a read it.
