This is another good survey of the pilots in the French and Finnish air forces who flew the MS 406 against German, British, and Soviet pilots with some success despite the technological handicaps inherent in the aircraft’s design. There is also brief coverage of the aircraft’s servicer in Vietnam against the Japanese, which augments what has been published elsewhere. As a war-gamer and modeller the colour profiles are a bonus, though I do wish some plan views of the wing camouflage could also be added as this would render the Osprey series even better, even where non-standard patterns were used, as by the French Air Force.
The only criticism I have relates to incorrect usage of the term ‘Wehrmacht’. This does not mean ‘German army’ but rather ‘armed forces’ and as such included both the Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine – the military vehicle licence plates WH, WL and WM should make this obvious to anyone. Instead we have the absurdity on page 32 of “...the Wehrmacht and the Luftwaffe...”
Nonetheless a fine effort.
