tourism - a new perspective,
This review is from: The Moralisation of Tourism: Sun, Sand... and Saving the World? (Contemporary Geographies of Leisure, Tourism and Mobility) (Paperback)
This is a real eye opener. Most books on this subject seem to accept that that there is a need for tourists to be more ethically and environmentally aware. Jim Butcher questions this agenda, arguing against the view that tourism is destructive of cultures and environments. He argues that the claims of ecotourism to be morally superior to mass tourism are disingenuous, and that people should be able to enjoy guilt free holidays. Readable, intelligent and provocative - definitely worth a look.
