Product Description

Moosewood Restaurant in Ithaca, New York, has long been a destination for lovers of delicious food with a vegetarian emphasis. The cooks at the restaurant know we're all juggling home, work, family, and social life and still trying to get dinner on the table. In Moosewood Restaurant Cooks at Home: Fast and Easy Recipes for Any Day, they've produced a collection of over 150 tempting meatless recipes that take less than 45 minutes to prepare without sacrificing taste, ease of preparation, or nutrition. You'll find recipes to satisfy every need and palate: Mexican Tomato Lime Soup, Curried Corn and Peppers, Feta Spinach Pizza, Cottage Cheese Apple Pancakes, Vegetables in Mint Vinaigrette, Pasta with Beans and Endive, Creamy Banana Ice - who would have ever thought that fast food could taste this good? Easy-to-read recipes are clearly labeled with cooking and preparation times and nutritional information, and there's a section that helps you find dishes for special needs, such as nondairy or vegan diets, cooking for company, or food for kids. Chapters on stocking the meatless pantry (with a list of recommended convenience foods), cooking techniques, and menu-planning and time-saving tips make Moosewood Restaurant Cooks at Home the essential volume for everyday cooking. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

A joy of a book 4 Mar 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Bought this book when it first came out, from the start every recipe was a joy to prepare, to serve, and eat. Even my finicky children love everything we have prepared from this book. There are some wonderfully different, yet simple, recipes. All can be prepared quickly with excellent results. If I was forced to choose only one cookbook to keep, it would be this one. Lali

I cook from this cookbook 2-3 times a week and have not yet hit a recipe that I didn't love. It is the best cookbook in my collection and I'm not even vegetarian! This cookbook has my family eating greens, brown rice and other whole foods and loving it.

I own nearly all of the Moosewood Collective cookbooks, and this is by far my favorite. I use it 2-3 times a week. Most of the recipes use inexpensive ingredients and they are all fast and easy to prepare. A few were too bland for my taste, but on the whole the recipes are a big hit in my home. My two very favorite recipes are "Cajun skillet beans" and "Tortellini Tomato Soup".
