Brilliant holiday reading,
By
This review is from: Moonshine (Hardcover)
A great read if you need cheering up as well. I've read all Christina Jones' books and I've enjoyed them all. They're full of memorable characters and you always get old favourites cropping up in later books as well. In this one Mitzi Blessing makes a welcome re-appearance.
Cleo Moon is starting life over again after a divorce. She lands a job as PA to Lady of the Manor - Mimi - having settled herself in a caravan in the sleepy little village of Lovers' Knot. But the trouble starts when the most beautiful boy in the world - Dylan - turns up on her doorstep drunk one night. The fast paced plot keeps you laughing and crying from the first page to the last. There are some serious issues involved in the book and these are treated well and sensitively but this is still a good light hearted read. The scene towards the end of the book at the Harvest Home is marvellously funny and the sub plot with schoolgirl Elvi and her budding romamce is really good. Christina Jones is well up to her very high standard in this latest book.

Another winner for Chritina Jones,

This review is from: Moonshine (Hardcover)
I love Christina Jones books; they are a tonic which never fails to make me smile. I have been looking forward to Moonshine and read it in one sitting. It was as fun as the others, light, funny with a host of characters. The plot is simple, involving the magical properties of old country wine making recipes with mayhem and romance mixed in. It is very similar to her earlier book, Hubble Bubble, with a number of the same characters making "guest appearances" in this book. In some ways this book was more lightweight with less depth to the people or plot than her earlier books. I did not feel as though I was as involved in them, certainly Dylan the leading man was slightly two dimensional. The ending with the romantic lead revealing that he has hidden depth also seemed contrived and unbelievable. However this is still a great read. Certainly a book when you need to clear the house of family, grab a glass of wine, and sit down to read uninterrupted. Cant wait now for the next one !

A Truly Magical Tale,
By
This review is from: Moonshine (Hardcover)
I bought this book intending to save it for my holidays, big mistake, I had to just have a "peep" inside it and like with all Christina Jones' previous books I was "hooked". It is a funny, magical, romantic touching story that both makes you laugh and tugs at the heart strings, and it is pure escapism.
The author has skillfully created characters that pop up from previous books so it is wonderful to "meet" up with them again to see how their lives have progressed. An unputdownable book, I loved it so much I read it far into the night - and I can't wait for the next one.
