Its 1990, a new era for Martin Moone (David Rawle) and his imaginary friend Sean Murphy (Chris ODowd). Its the year of Irelands historic victories, and draw-ings, at the Italia 90 World Cup - which, to Liams delight and the rest of the familys dismay, has clashed with their annual pilgrimage to damp Donegal. Its a year when Martin starts secondary school and promptly develops a crush on his beautiful, mental art teacher, Miss Tivnan (Amy Huberman), who he tries to impress with his slick moves at the school dance. Its a year with a Halloween raft adventure where Martin and Padraic meet the mysterious Island Joe (Pat Shortt), a religious-themed stag party, an epic golf battle, an even more epic St. Patricks Day parade, and when a family of Travellers move into the field next to the Moone home, it becomes the year that Martin Moone finds his first true love.

At last the hit comedy is back with another six episodes of nostalgic Irish fun. Martin Moone has an imaginary friend Sean played by co-writer and great actor Chris O'Dowd. This series picks up where the last left off. Martin is now going to `Big School' along with best mate and part time cross dresser Padraic. His eldest sister is now heavy with child thanks to the less than charismatic religious organiser and loud shirt wearing Dessie.

This time the situations will range from Irelands' entry to the Football World Cup in 1990 and a less than idyllic family holiday. Martins first day at school, his first love with a free wheelin `art teacher'; and the school disco sans alcohol but very much avec embarrassment. An ingenious if unreliable ghost ship for the Halloween special - watch out for Jonny Vegas playing invisible friend `Crunchie Haystacks'. Ireland's answer to squash with a show down of handball where Simon Day plays a golfing ghost, the wedding and a group of travellers moving in to the field next to the Moones'.

I loved the first series and downloaded these as they became available and they are every bit as good as the first outing. All the same actors play all the main characters and it is hard to single anyone out as being brilliant as they all put in such great performances which just compliment each other. Whilst still not as big as it ought to be I feel with the rise of Chris O'Dowd as a recognised talent it is only a matter of time before these little gems get the full attention they most definitely deserve.

I saw part of this series on PBS and loved it. I bought both seasons on DVD so I could watch it at my leisure and get a bit of a pick me up from the gentle humor and great stories. The imaginary friend is a great idea and allows for some very funny situations. The cast is outstanding and the scenery is eye catching to a Yank who has never been to Ireland. I hope there are more than two series.

The first series was good the second just as strong building on some of the plots from the first. Not many series feature a Stag Night in which the Best Man is also the priest conducting the wedding service the following day while the bride goes into labour in the back of a gypsy's cart while stuck in the middle of a St Patrick's Day parade.

Missed the first series and saw this series advertised on the T V. I sent for both and watched them in order. I am so glad I did. They are so so funny in a tipical Irish way, gentle and droll. Chris Dowd will go far in any area of entertainment he chooses. I have seen him do stand up and in films and he never disappoints. His script writing is first class too. I loved the extras at the end of each DVD. the extras on some DVDs are just awful but these gave you a real insight into the production, writing and West coast Irish "towns."

Loved the first series and the return of the Moones does not disappoint. Watched all the episodes as a family and we all loved it. Can't wait for series 3!
