This highly welcome re-issue of a long-lost LP from 1957 contains quite superb interpretations of 10 Moondog originals and 6 Moondog-esque compositions by British jazz musician Kenny Graham. It's both a sweet addition for Moondog enthusiasts as well an accessible initiation for those new to the composer's work (next to the excellent collection The Viking of Sixth Avenue). The selection of works is great (obviously all are from Moondog's earliest period of 78rpm's and 10'' records), Kenny Graham's orchestra is top-notch and the sound of these remastered recordings is crystal-clear - what more could you ask for? To top it off, nearly all of Kenny Graham's originals are delightful pieces too, inspired by the master but with a flair of their own. Maybe a little cheesy at times, but that's part of the charm. Highly recommended.

Another undiscovered gem by Trunk Records, featuring the Jazz wizardry of Kenny Graham and his Satellites. Like everything on Trunk Records well worth the money.

This was recorded when the then PM Anthony Eden wore a top hat. Moondog was a US composer of quirky, percussive, Ethnic American inspired 'outsider' Jazz. To say it was music ahead of its time is to understate. Kenny Graham was perhaps the finest British arranger of his age, this recording should be on all Jazz lovers shelves. The line up of the 'Satellites' reads like a who's who of 50's Jazz, Stan Tracey, Danny Moss, et al... Highly recommended...
