5.0 out of 5 stars The Moondial by Helen Cresswell 26 April 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have just been reading this book to a young girl who I look after and she loves it. It's classic story telling of the adventures of a little girl called Minty who discovers a moondial in the grounds of a large Mannor house near to her Aunt's cottage. It's a mystical tale of time travel and secret discoveries within the magic of the dial as she encounters two lost children from a bygone age. It's so lovely sometimes, to re read these aged novels and rediscover their haunting tales and old fashioned charm...takes you back to your youth of escapisim and fantasy and into another world which is why we all love to read afterall...isn't it?

I picked this up after recognising the characters on the cover from my childhood - and am so glad I did - I found the story to be a totally engrossing trip down memory lane. Although simple , the language used is of decent quality and appropriate for children and easy to follow. This book has made me want to rediscover all my childhood favourites. Highly recommended for people of all ages!
