NEW EDITION The cracks are beginning to show in the idyllic Stonewylde community. As Yul and Sylvie's forbidden friendship grows into something deeper, Magus' true nature starts to emerge through his charming façade. Ever since Yul defied him at the Summer Solstice, his power has been waning, and his mood darkening. Yul is the problem - and Magus is going to deal with him. Nobody challenges his authority and survives. Sylvie is in danger too. Magus has discovered her secret and now, for all its beauty, her magical gift and Magus' desire to possess it is putting her life at risk. As each full moon rises Sylvie is made to suffer more, and the agony she endures as her magic is stolen leaves her increasingly exhausted, sapping her will to fight back. Unless Magus can be stopped, every full moon could be Sylvie's last. As glorious summer turns to golden autumn, the magic of Stonewylde is becoming a curse to the very people it should nurture . . . Are Yul and Sylvie the only ones who see the truth behind Magus' mask of kindness? Why is everyone so deceived by his charm - and why is Mother Heggy, the mysterious wise-woman the only one who will help them? The darkness of winter is coming, and as it does Sylvie and Yul's lives hang by a whisker. Either they will save each other, or history will repeat itself at the sinister standing stone above the cliffs.
Kit Berry lived in Dorset for many years, where she worked as a school teacher and brought up three sons. She was inspired by the beauty of the landscape and her interest in folklore and earth-based spirituality to write the Stonewylde Series.
The first three novels in this five book series were originally self-published and achieved success all over the UK and in the Netherlands. Kit gave up teaching and spent most of her time during the next few years travelling the country to promote Stonewylde and giving talks on how to reconnect with nature. In 2010 the rights to the series were bought by Orion, who are publishing the books under their Gollancz imprint. Kit has now revised and improved the original three titles and these are published with new jackets in collector's edition hardback and paperback. The fourth long-awaited title will be published this August, and the final Stonewylde book in September 2012.
Over the years a cult following for Stonewylde has grown and spread, with an online community and groups of readers who meet up all over the country wearing Stonewylde T-shirts and badges. Kit attends some of the Stonewylde camps and keeps in touch with her readers with a regular newsletter, through the social networking site and her main website.
Kit is currently working on the fifth title in the Stonewylde Series, and is looking forward to starting a new project when that's completed. You can read all about the concepts behind Stonewylde, subscribe to the newsletter and find out about the online community on Kit's website www.stonewylde.com
