First book of a trilogy, adventures in the middle east before the Flood. Exciting but also funny. I came to them as an adult and still enjoy occasional reread.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great read 22 Jan 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
The story of Noah's ark retold as the moving adventures of a poor animal tamer who is sent to get animals for the ark since Noah's son Ham is too much of a coward. A beautifully written, touching book of human courage and daring. Rosemary Harris combines humour and pathos to form a truely great story. One of my favourites!

This is a story worth reading and re-reading, accessibly written so it is enjoyable for children to read it is also interesting enough to be worth a re-read as an adult.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Biblical, could be confusing 14 Mar 2014
By Doesun's Mom - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This book is entertaining, especially if you love animals. However, I was hoping that somehow the author would, at least, avoid contradicting Scripture. To my disappointment, she contradicted Scripture in significant ways that could certainly cause the reader confusion. I was uneasy with her representation of God, her understanding of human sinfulness, the inaccurate timeline, outcome of Ham, depiction of Noah, and more--all unbiblical. This novel would be acceptable if she had not muddied God's infallible Word.
