Book Description

4 Sep 2009
‘Hippos wallow in the moon’s deep craters, Bobbing with the rhinos and the alligators.’ The moon tiger scratches at shooting stars, polar bears float down from their mountain for starfish and chips, and the zookeeper, of course, is an alien. Carol Ann Duffy’s lyrical, humorous verse illuminates an entrancing world that is both familiar and strange. This is a very special book.

Our 4 and half years old is enchanted by it. The imagery is very sweet and the illustrations interesting but in very soft tones. Perfect for bed time!

5.0 out of 5 stars An enchating quirky read! 22 Jun 2012

I found this book in the library and my 5 year old was so captivated by it I was forced to buy it along with two other Carol Duffy children's books. I only buy a few books so they have to be pretty special! This book is humorous and lyrical with stimulating illustrations, definitely one of my favourites to read to my daughter! Highly recommended.
