Erasure "Tomorrow's World"

Biography

Following the disbandment of the short-lived synth pop group Yazoo, former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke formed Erasure in 1985 with singer Andy Bell. Like Yaz and Depeche Mode, Erasure were a synth-based group, but they had stronger dance inclinations, as well as a sharper, more accessible sense of pop songcraft, than either of Clarke's previous bands. Furthermore, Erasure had the flamboyantly… Read more in Amazon's Erasure Store

A game of two halves 13 Dec 2001

Well, it'a been a long time coming. Their current
album Loveboat was released in the UK in Nov 2000
and has yet to see a US release so some of these
tracks have been around a fair while.

Moon & The Sky - the album version - always reminded me of Madonna's Ray Of Light but that's
no bad thing! The new version - and it is almost
a completely new version and not just new mixes -
adds a chorus where there wasn't one before and
Vince and Andy have done well.

The Heaven Scent mix is quite a work although I
personally feel there's too much of the remixers
on the other mixes: I thought this was an Erasure
release! It would be easy for the remixers in
this case to pass off their work as Erasure mixes
as there's very little on the mixes that's attributable to V & A on this CD but I dare say
that's a facet of current dance culture.

The acoustic stuff is great. Tracks like Freedom
were quite minimal and acoustic-based in any case
but it works well enough here. Baby Love really
does the business; Vince's cardboard box hitting
the spot! And he's supposed to love technology!

So overall, it's a great release.

Cheers
Al Ferrier

Great to hear from the influential pop maestros that are Erasure once again. Fantastic reworking of the Techno headspin that is 'The Moon and The Sky' which appeared on their latest album Loveboat. This is a real treat for any Erasure fan and a sublime intro to their songwriting skills, both electronic and acoustic versions of tracks from Loveboat appear plus an acoustic version of one of their best loved songs A Little Respect. A pure pleasure and a must have compilation!!!
