As I start to write this review, I'm mildly(?) shocked to realise that I've been both meditating and reading meditation books for over a quarter of a century. Quite simply, this is one of the best I've encountered in that time, and yes, I include the 'classics' in that.
Jessica writes with a real *practical* understanding of what she's talking about - with some other recent books on meditation, one might almost wonder whether the writer has ever *tried* meditating or if they're just rehashing stuff they've heard. In Jessica's work, over and over again I found information that made me wish I'd found this book at a much earlier stage in my practice.
I could write on and on in praise of MOON OVER WATER, but I won't tire you. I'll just use a worn out old cliché - but one which honestly applies in this case: If you're just looking for one book on meditation, this is the one.

I have read many books on meditation and and other spiritual matters. Every now and again I will find a book which is simply just outstanding. This is one such book!
Every time I picked up the book to read - even just a few words I felt inspired and uplifted! So much so that I felt 'Moon over Water' was speaking directly to me. Jessica has packed an amazing amount of information and invaluable advice into this one slim volume. She obviously knows what she is talking about and is writing from personal experience. I would even go so far to say that I feel she was guided to write this for the rest of us!

If you only buy one book on meditation, make sure that its this one. Moon Over Water is a practical, down to earth guide to a wide variety of meditation practices. But it is also much more than this, it is as if the author, Jessica Macbeth is your friend and companion along your spiritual path, someone who knows all the pitfalls from personal experience. She knows how difficult it is to meditate on your own - but with her book by your side, you need never be completely on y our own.
The book is also full of amusing stories and anecdotes, when you read this book you will learn how to smile as you tread on your own toes, just as Jessica did!
