In an amazing career Rod Stewart proves over and over again why he is one of the greatest performers of all time and surely ranks alongside Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Presley in the level of the best ever. From his time as a member of Steampacket,The Jeff Beck Group,The Faces through to his incredible solo career he's shown throughout to be among the elite of his profession. So here we get Volume V of The Great American Songbook ,surely he'd exhausted them by now but no this ones about the best of them all, why ? well this is one not to just enjoy but one to get your wife up and dance around the house too. Rod's in great voice here witha dozon great songs and a wonderful production throughout by Richard Perry and some pretty hot musicians..Fromj the opening 'That Old Black Magic' through evergreens like 'Beyond The Sea' to a seperb take on 'Fly Me To The Moon' to I think one of the best ever recordings of 'Moon River' we are just treated to Rod at his finest, wqith an abbum that gives us the full range os his voice and quality. This for me is one of the best at his best with a classic album in every way,and one we'll be playing for years to come it's one of those timeless sets that satisfies more with each playing.Do you know Rod just keeps on getting better and growing as an artist.Rod deserves his continual success and with albums as good as this he'll be there for some time yet.Five stars plus..unmissable.
