About the Author
Tove Jansson was born in Helsingfors, Finland, in 1914. Her mother was a caricaturist who designed 165 of Finland's stamps and her father was a sculptor. She studied painting in Finland, Sweden and France, and subsequently became a book illustrator. Her extraordinary illustrative style is seen as a design classic the world over. Originally written in Swedish, the Moomintroll books have been translated into 34 languages and adapted for television, film, radio and opera. Tove Jansson lived alone on a small island in the gulf of Finland, where most of her books were written. She died in 2001.

This is a very nice book, brightly coloured with big flaps, introducing many Moomins characters - but maybe too many for a child who is not yet familiar with this?. My 2yr old daughter has not taken to it yet, so although I like it a lot, it only gets 3 stars.

Ok I'll be honest I'm a bit sick of reading this book as the baby loves it so much we have to read, read and re-read.
It's a great wee interactive book, if a little flimsy. Would have preferred a sturdier version of the book for less than delicate hands but other than that cannot fault it at all.

I bought this for my daughter when she was a bit over two and she really enjoys it. It might get wrecked a bit quickly with a baby, but an older child can enjoy it more as a book than a toy. The first page has Moomin counting to 10 which helps with numbers and then the hunt for Little My is sweet. Definitely a good way to introduce a child to the Moomins.

First Moomin book
Ideal for babies and toddlers, this lovely lift the flap book is a great introduction to the Moomins. Nice first book for babies with these lovable characters.
