Something of a wasted opportunity to showcase Ultravox's undoubted abilities as a live act, this CD is a less than complete (even in its later extended release) document of what they were like around the Quartet time in 1982. The sound quality is adequate but hardly dynamic (compare, for example, Simple Minds or Gary Numan live recordings from this time). Midge Ure's guitar playing is superb, particularly on the solo at the end of Passing Strangers, although he doesn't improvise at all - it's almost note-for-note the same as on the earlier, BBC recording from the Vienna time two years previously. The use of the Messengers duo to fill out the sound with keys and vocals helps a great deal. Why couldn't they release the entire concert? And why the bland Monument instrumental at the beginning?
