Monument 2355M OMAT® Soldering Mat 15-22mm MON2355
Patented cut out mat for soldering copper pipes from 15 - 22 mm in diameter. Reduces the risk of fire. The unique shape with overlap gives a tight and secure fit.
Unlike conventional soldering mats the OMAT wraps around the pipe offering complete protection to the surrounding surfaces. The OMAT is constructed from a woven glass fabric and does not present any of the hazards associated with asbestos materials. Additionally, it is stitched all round and will resist temperatures up to 600°C.

This is an excellent item for protecting the surroundings when soldering and is the only one that I could find that actually wraps around. Ok it's not completely flawless and will actually char if you hold the flame too close to it for too long, but it is a better option than the cheap mats that you buy in the DIY sheds which also don't wrap around the pipework. I was using the yellow bottle gas which burns much hotter than your standard propane at the time so if it stands up to that then your cheaper standard gas will be fine. I wish it was cheaper, but then you do pay for quality, so I won't go all Victor Meldrew on this point.

This is a very handy mat, it has a hole and slit to allow shrouding of pipes and has been very useful. None of these are particularly cheap but I have to say this wasn't the dearest and seems fine after a few months of regular use. So far no unwanted scorching.
