Having put up with a blocked loo for a week this was my last resort (I refused to spend a silly amount for a plumber). Had tried buckets of water, air plunger, caustic soda, cooper plunger - all with zero result. Then to make the problem worse, my teenage son had some friends over and didn't tell them not to use the toilet!!! Anyway, as last resort came across this magic wand on Amazon. What to lose? It came next day, and I was on to it right away. Couldn't even get it round the first bend to start with and then I pushed it in a bit harder and it moved round the first corner and onwards. However, nothing was in it's way, there didn't seem to be any block. Tried a few more times and still nothing came back. I left it and fell onto my bed in dismay and anger - I wouldn't let that darn loo get the better of me! Then hubby came upstairs and had a look. One flush and the toilet was ok. So, it obviously did the trick, this magic wand. One note - it left lots of scratches in the toilet bowl and on the edge - next challenge for me was to find out how to remove them, and thanks to the wonderful internet I discovered that just a little rub with a pumice stone can remove scratches and so it did, perfect!

Monument 3350d Closet Auger 6ft X 3/8inI was a bit sceptical about purchasing this Auger but I need not have worried because it was surprisingly efficient and easy to use. I used it to unblock my toilet and where all else failed this came up trumps. The Auger is inserted tail end into the toilet bowl and by turning the handle allowing it to go as far as it can through to the blockage, by turning the handle in the opposite direction the end of the coil grasps the obstacle that's causing the blockage thus bringing it back up to the surface of the toilet where it can be removed, this action can be repeated until the blockage is totally cleared. It definitely gets the thumbs up.

I ordered this item in exasperation after my 2 year old boy shoved a small stuffed toy and a full loo roll down the toilet and flushed. (he was very proud of himself). I spent 3 days trying to clear the blockage with no success. having seen this product and reading the reviews, I was less than confident that it would work but given the price, I was prepared to give it a go, rather than call out the professional highway men who charge a fortune just for coming out to your house and shaking their heads!! Credit to the seller, the product arrived right on time. I was impressed initially by the weight of the Auger which helped improve my optimism that it might work. After following the straight forward instructions, the blockage was cleared completely in 30 seconds. I would recommend this auger to anyone with the same sort of problem and I would most certainly recommend the seller for a very prompt, packaged delivery.

Having the 6 foot version makes it almost impossible to turn the handle until the cable is so far down it is probably past the blockage anyway. I would go for the 3 foot version next time.

The item had a loose bit when it arrived, and it was not obvious what it was, but within 5 minutes of using the device the cable broke off while fully down the pan, resulting in a wet hand and lower arm to retrieve it, and a damaged/scratched pan because the protective bit was no longer there. I guess that the loose bit was to blame?

As it turned out, as 6 foot was too unwieldy, it was much easier to use without the handle - it turned itself into a plumbers snake, and all said and done, barring the damage to the pan, I did make a success of clearing the blockage.

I bought this having previously paid a well known professional drains company to unblock toilets in two different houses. Each time they charged over £100 and immediately went for the 'We'll need to jet it out' option, which meant unlocking side gates, trawling 100' of hose around the house and in through an upstairs window for a 2 minute job. The second time they managed to soil the adjoining bedroom carpet and spent more time cleaning that up than actually clearing the toilet!

Since buying it a couple of years ago I've used it about half a dozen times, as our new build house seems far more susceptible to blockages than our old Victorian place was and it has worked great every time. You need to be careful with it to avoid banging the metal handle into the toilet pan and turning the slowly handle makes it smoother to ease the auger around the U-bend and down into the soil stack.

All things considered some of the best money I've spent on a simple tool that works well.

worse than useless, it is cumbersome to use, doesn't really rotate like they say and it made no impact on the blockage whatsoever - but it did manage to scratch the pan, a lot. Heath Robinson.
I am sending it back and bought the MP1600 Toilet Plunger instead which cleared the blockage simply in one minute.

Not useful in any way shape or form, the problem is that look at any instructional video on how to use the Auger and it will say the same thing, place rod into pan, rotate handle whilst pushing gently. This item has a 6 foot snake and a 3 foot handle and sleeve which means that 3 feet of the snake is already out and makes it impossible to use effectively. Add to that the width of the snake itself means its as likely to flick back on itself as find the right way down, all in all a good way to spend 12 quid as a spot of light (pan scratching) entertainment before you have to call a plumber.

Avoid.
