Moving to Montana

Her grandfather wants her to come home, and Molly thinks she just might. His ranch will be a good place for her sons to grow up, a place to escape big-city influences. Then she learns—from a stranger named Sam Dakota—that her grandfather is ill. Possibly dying. Molly packs up the kids without a second thought and makes the long drive to Sweetgrass, Montana. Once she arrives, she immediately has questions about Sam Dakota.

Why is he working on her grandfather’s ranch? Why doesn’t the sheriff trust him? Just who is he? But despite everything, Molly can’t deny her attraction to Sam—until her ailing grandfather tries to push them into marriage. Moving to the state of Montana is one thing; entering the state of matrimony is another! Some borders aren’t so easy to cross….

More About the Author

Through both words and deeds, Debbie Macomber inspires women from all walks of life to realise their dreams.

She overcame the obstacles in her own life to become one of the world's most popular writers. She encourages women to achieve the goals that burn in their hearts as fiercely as the desire to become a bestselling novelist did in her own.

When Debbie first decided to write a novel, people called her a hopeless dreamer. She had only a high school degree and was dyslexic. She was also the very young mother of four active children. No one believed she had what it took to write a book--except Debbie. She eventually saved enough money to rent an old typewriter, and every night when the children were asleep, she would sit down to write.

She wrote--for years. But each time she completed a story and mailed it off to a publisher, the manuscript was returned, stamped "rejected." As tough as it was to keep her spirits alive, Debbie never gave up. Five long years and thousands of pages later, she received a letter in the afternoon mail. The letter was from Silhouette Books--and they wanted to buy her story. Her first novel, Heartsong, was published as a Silhouette in 1984, and it became the first romance novel ever to be reviewed in Publishers Weekly.

Today, Debbie is the internationally acclaimed author of more than 100 novels and has sold over 60 millions copies. Popular around the globe, she receives approximately three thousand letters from readers every month. And she responds personally to each one.

In lectures around the country, Debbie encourages women to "exercise the success muscle." She also offers advice on how to achieve success in seeking or changing a career, building family relationships, forming healthy relationships and more.

Like her heartwarming novels, Debbie's inspirational speeches are always filled with laughter and love. She cares deeply about the women she touches with her writing, and she continues to mentor people around the country. She also volunteers her considerable talents to help raise much-needed funds for battered-women's shelters, literacy and medical research.

She lives with her husband in Port Orchard, Washington. Their children are grown and she is a proud grandmother.

5.0 out of 5 stars Her break-out book is terrific 19 Feb 1998
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
After divorcing her spouse, Molly and her two sons had to cope with the intense scrutiny of the community when her former husband was convicted of defrauding the elderly. After that humiliation, Molly feels she will never trust a man again. This, of course, doesn't include her two boys and her grandfather, Walt, the owner of the Broken Arrow Ranch in Montana. When the ranch foreman, Sam Dakota calls her to tell her that Walt is dying, Molly pulls up roots and, accompanied by her two sons, moves to Montana.
It is important to Walt to know that Molly and the boys will be safe and secure after he dies. He maneuvers his granddaughter and his foreman into a marriage of convenience that quickly turns into a love match. However, Molly's faith in her new spouse is quickly shaken when she learns that Sam is an ex-con. Her doubts are further fostered by a militia group, who want possession of the ranch, even if it means resorting to violence to accomplish their objective.
MONTANA is one of Debbie Macomber's best works to date, which is saying a lot when one considers how good the author has been over the years. At the heart of this dramatic epic is two scarred and lonely souls, who fear trusting anyone. When they meet, passion flows, but neither want to see where it leads to because they are afraid of the pain involved when a commitment ismade.. Readers will be thoroughly entertained as they observe the pair suffers through mental agonies to hide from the truth. Ms. Macomber imbues heart and soul into this terrific tale that will please her myriad of fans.

Yes, I know these stories usually are, but I thought this was even more so than some of her other books.

Disappointed and won't read it again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kindle Edition 14 Dec 2013

I have read lots of Debbie Macomber and enjoyed them but unfortunately my Kindle version of this has errors in that in Chapter 3 a large chunk of text appears to be missing. Molly arrives at her grampa's house and meets him then the text jumps to someone seeing her outside the bank in town. It's a shame because I have now had to put down the book as I cannot read it.
