Book Description

The Wheels on the Bus, a perennial favorite of the toddler set, gets a uniquely Sesame Street spin in this very funny Little Golden Book. Elmo, Grover, and Cookie Monster board a bus and meet some wacky passengers, including a furball with a boombox, frogs, cows, a brass band, and a family of yipping Martians. The sound effects in the chorus reflect the voices and activities of the passengers in a way that will have little ones—and adults—laughing out loud as they join in the song.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Monsters on the Bus 10 Mar. 2014
Format:Hardcover
It's raining in the city, and Mr. Johnson gets on the bus (driven by Zoe), which is full of monsters. Ingrid and Humphrey are taking care of Baby Natasha, who spills the contents of her bottle over Mr. Johnson. Grover complains that the man's umbrella is dripping on his edition of Monster News. He finds another seat next to Cookie Monster, who's munching on a bag of cookies. A giant monster carrying a noisy boombox sits in the seat on the other side.

More passengers get on the bus -- a group of hopping frogs and a herd of mooing cows. Oscar the Grouch and His Junk Band jam on the bus, and they're joined by a monster marching band which includes the Two-Headed Monster playing a loud bass drum (with Grover as the bandleader: "HIM again?" utters an aghast Mr. Johnson). Big Bird enjoys the music, and starts singing along. A group of Martians gets on the bus, making loud "Yip! Yip!" noises.

Fed up, Mr. Johnson gets off the bus and decides to take a taxi. He doesn't realize that Grover is driving the cab...

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute book to Wheels on the Bus song 17 Jan. 2013
By NC State Karen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This is a cute book. It is pretty much the 'Wheels on the Bus' song in a book. It has a Seasame Street tilt, with one of the lines being 'Coo-ooo-kie, coo-ooo-kie'. There are wipers going 'swish swish swish', babies going 'wah wah wah', parents going 'shh shh shh'. There are some other ones like the band playing 'Umm paa paa' and the grouches going 'bam bam bam' with trash can lids. My kids seem to enjoy it and have asked for it a lot. As long as you know what you are getting and want a book version of Wheels on the Bus, you are going to be pleased. A hopefully, for your kids sake, you sing better than me. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars A+ Awesome! 16 Jun. 2014

Sarah Albee writes great Sesame Street books and this one is no exception. Amazing artwork and a funny narrative (with a twist on the "wheels on the bus" theme). My son and I LOVE this book! My only (minor) complaint is that although Elmo is seen on the cover, he is not actually featured anywhere in the book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Wheels on the bus + grover = one very delighted 2 year old 12 Dec. 2013

This is just "wheels on the bus" with a sesame street twist. I sing it to my son as we read. Because he's already familiar with the song, it's a nice way to get the words in front of him so we can reinforce early reading. There's lots to look at on each page and each time we read/sing it, he points out something new he's noticed. Unlike "My name is Elmo," because this is really just an illustrated lyrics sheet, it doesn't suffer from not having a plot.
5.0 out of 5 stars Toddler Favorite 7 Sept. 2004
By M. Winter - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I just spent a week with college friends where the crowd included 6 children ranging from 7 months to 3 years of age. The absolute favorite book among the toddler set was The Monsters on the Bus. The book was requested every time we sat down to read and was often read back to back to back! And during nap time, you could hear the children singing themselves to sleep..."A monster on the bus says coo-ooo-kie..."
5.0 out of 5 stars Sesame Books 25 May 2014

All three of these Monster books are for my unborn grandson. I read my daughter there’s a monster at the end of this book daily (more than once a day some days) for years, she loved it and he will too. We haven’t read these books completely just glanced at them but they are cute, educational and funny and am looking to read daily (and probably memorize! Ha).
