This is a fantastic fun book which is interesting and funny for all children, with a well meaning and delightful message to help children understand tolerance.

For adults, this book really is the wrong category, it ought to be a number one best seller for all senior management to help gain a better understanding of company politics! So very often departments are trying to acheive the same goal but don't always appreciate their respective colleagues perspectives, this book gets this message across beautifully.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem of a book 14 Aug 2009
Format:Hardcover
My children loved this book when they were little (they are now 19, 17 & 16) - They used to cry with laughter at the funny names the monsters called each other and they have not grown up insulting, rude or violent adults.

I am now purchasing a copy for a friends daughter and hope she gets as much joy from it being read to her as my own children did.

If I had read some of the reviews on here I may never have brought the book in the first place which would have been a real shame and my children would have missed out on a lot of laughter and for the record one of the worse insults used in the book is "you soggy cornflake" children have a simple, silly sense of humour and this book is perfect for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two numpties 3 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
This is an excellent book, hilarious and insightful. Don't let the bulk of the previous reviews put you off. There are no expletives in this book just playful banter between two monsters whose initial stances are eventually shown as what the were; ignorant.

Ironic, really.

5.0 out of 5 stars Monstrous! 12 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
I purchased this book to see if I could use it for a Year 2 class. The topic is monsters and the teachers wanted some SEAL lessons linked to the Getting on and Falling Out theme. This book did the trick, and provided a really good stimulus for developing ideas about calming down and making amends.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delight 17 Jun 2011
By NENK
Format:Paperback
A wonderfully funny, keenly observed picture-book text with an important but subtle message (which is given without patronising the reader).

I don't understand the concerns of some of the other reviewers -- they seem to underestimate the ability of children to differentiate between a 'story' and 'instruction'. The book is about the characters overcoming ignorance and being rewarded with friendship and understanding in return -- with some pure, hilarious silliness along the way.

It's a wonderful book which I heartily recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars An informed review. 23 April 2013
Format:Paperback
I had this book when I was younger, it is my 20th birthday tomorrow and I just wanted to point out against all the negative reviews that this book is great.

I used to find it hilarious, and I am stunned that there are people that consider the words used to be unfit for children.

As I said, I am 20 tomorrow and I have not grown up to be an insulting and horrible youth, as some people seem to believe.

I remember being in tears of laughter at the term "soggy cornflake," so any parents considering this book, ignore the ridiculous low star reviews.

This book is very funny for young children, and you will both enjoy reading it together.
