These are the primal stories of Western Civilisation, the themes, characters, narratives and language upon which so much literature is built. As a child this book, and the others in the series that explore Norse and Native American myths, enchanted me. Fluently written, without skimping on the tricky Greek names and sumptuously illustrated, I adored this book. What I didn't realise at the time was that it was giving me a firm grounding in classic narratives that would see me through A-Level English and a degree in Theatre Studies. I'll be buying these books for my own children one day.

I remember reading this book at school when I was about 10-11 years old.The picture and the title on the cover instantly caught my eye.As soon as you open the book it throws you into the adventures of mythology.The illustrations are so captavating!A must read and a great book for kids wanting to learn about mythology. BUY IT!!
