3.0 out of 5 stars An average book for an un-average price, 15 Feb 2001
By A Customer
The monstrs of Faerun is a paperback A4 book detailing monsters found only within the Forgotten Realms setting. For people who have no information on the Realms, or for people who are intent on owning all of the 3rd edition manulas, this book is a must buy. For people who have already run campiagns within the Realms may be a bit of a steep price for monsters that you have probably already heard of and in some of the cases may already have convertable statistics for.

This book does have some very good roleplaying information in it, for all of the above gripes. Information on role-playing the monsters described is very good, offering what they feel are appropriate classes for the monsters background. it also gives some useful advice on where the monsters can be found if you are using them in a Forgotten Realms campaign setting rather than any other.

The best part of this manual are the appendices at the end; the information given on playing were-creatures and liches adds an extra dimension to the game.

All in all I would definately advise people to get a look at this book before you buy it, as it may not cater to everyones needs, especially with the price tag.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, 6 Dec 2003

Most of the enteries have artwork, a description, plus a description about how the monster attacks, and where you'll find it in the realms. And there's a table ranking the monster by CR. I just wish there was more of it.
