Product Description

Book Description

Zooform Phenomena are the most elusive, and least understood,
mystery `animals`. Indeed, they are not animals at all, and are not even
animate in the accepted terms of the word, but entities or apparitions
which adopt, or seem to have (quasi)animal form.

These elusive and contentious entities have plagued cryptozoology - the
study of unknown animals - since its inception, and tend to be dismissed by
mainstream science as thoroughly unworthy of consideration. But they
continue to be seen, and Jonathan Downes - the Director of the Centre for
Fortean Zoology - who first coined the term in 1990, maintains that many
zooform phenomena result from complex psychosocial and sociological
phenomena, and suggests that to classify all such phenomena as "paranormal"
in origin is counterproductive, and for researchers to dismiss them out of
hand is thoroughly unscientific.

Author and researcher Neil Arnold is to be commended for a groundbreaking
piece of work, and has provided the world's first alphabetical listing of
zooforms from around the world.

About the Author

Neil Arnold has had an interest in zooform phenomena,
undiscovered animals and folklore since watching the docu-drama "The Legend
of Boggy Creek" at the age of nine! (It's about a Bigfoot-like monster, if
you want to know).

Neil runs Kent Big Cat Research, and has done for well over a decade,
spending most of his time in the field monitoring exotic felids, as well as
writing articles on non-native, as well as indigenous, felids worldwide. He
has also written authoritatively on the Highgate 'vampire' case, Bigfoot
and lake monsters, as well as owning the biggest collection of
cryptozoology documentaries.

He has appeared on Sky News, the BBC, ITV, radio, and has self-published
two books so far: Odd-Bodies: An Investigation into a Selection of Monsters
Triggered by the Cosmic Mechanism, and Clandestine Creatures: Animals,
Manimals & Monsters of the Mind.

His interests include 1960s culture/fashion, psychedelia, Marc Bolan,
America's elusive 'Zodiac' serial killer, and the films of David Lynch.
