so this was suggested to me, and i wasn't sure what to make of the manga cover, but giving it a go anyway, i am glad i got it.

The comedy in this manga is out of control! its funny right from the start, a very good manga for any fan out there.

How ever i would advise that the age rating would be for at least 17 and up, due to some very rude scenes, and some strong sexual references, it can come off strong.

How ever for anyone out there who likes romance comedy and lots of pretty girls in, its best to pick this up

Monster Musume deals with your traditional 'harem' setup for a manga, albeit the girls are somewhat different, which you have to appreciate or this manga will fall woefully short. (hint. if the cover makes you shy away, stay away)
I find it to be quite funny at times, and the main character is very likeable and down to earth, compared to what you would usually see in this setup.
The girls are cute, and each have their own appeal, and unique traits. Ms. Smith makes for wonderful comic relief as well.
The story progresses much like any harem story, yet both faster and slower. This won't be a 200th-something chapter story and as such the characters are introduced faster, yet whether real love will shine through in the end is hard to say. It can also be viewed as a 'Slice of Life' story.
As a note, this is not an '18+' work, but a little nudity is visible at times.
I haven't mentioned the actual storyline because i think the themes in itself is what will make you enjoy this work.

Personally i decided to buy it to support the artist after having read a few later volumes, which in my opinion only gets better, and I'm fully happy with the purchase. The colour pages was a nice touch as well, even if there was only a couple of them.

This is a very long review, so fair warned, but please don't assume i'm just bashing this all the way through, I'm really taking a balanced look at the manga and giving a full opinion, there are comparisons, analysis and more. The title of my review; I know it doesn't seem fair to compare the two but I just can't help it, Monster Musume vs Rosario vampire is like the fanservice monster school set up equivalent of Hollyoaks vs ForrestGump for emotion/drama, there's a clear winner in every category.

I've read lots of manga and am a passionate collector, I know some will say that I'm a woman therefore I might not appreciate fanservice as it should be but firstly, I am bisexual so no argument there, second, fanservice can be great if its done right - RosaVam, Love Hina, Tenchi Muyo/Universe, even the male version in Ouran High School Host Club! third, theres a difference between fanservice, which usually incorporates character, scene, emotion, relation and more, and what is very simply using sex/bodyparts.

I will give credit where it's due, artistry and character design as well as arrangement, the story flows easily from one panel to the next, always looks great in regards to shading, composition, facial expression, well, except for Kimihito the main guy, zero personality, zero individuality, literally just a guy who likes women, is generally nice and doesn't want to get into trouble. Very 'meh.' Nothing special at all.

I ordered this book along with volume 2, I had already read these stories prior and knew what I was in for. The story is a great little rom-com with ecchi thrown in, the characters are very likeable and unique, and the art is absolutely fantastic. I recommend this for anyone who is into the harem/ ecchi genre, with a little twist thrown in... Definitely not for everyone.
