Saved by the black comedy and ending,
By Will (Essex, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Monster Man [DVD] (DVD)
The two characters in this come across as fairly unlikeable initially, one is an annoying virgin who acts like a little wuss, the other some fat bloke who is equally annoying. The virgin is going to (and possible stop) a wedding of a woman he is in love with. The fat guy just tags along. On the way they pick up some hot blonde chick and soon after they are being chased by a huge monster truck.
This is a sort of road trip teen movie mixed with some Texas chainsaw massacre. The acting is rubbish but it is actually hilariously funny at times. The final third of the film is also the best. There is a twist near the end that I honestly had no idea was coming, admittedly I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention during the first half but even so it surprised me. I normally see most twists a mile off but not this one. Not scary at all but is often very funny thanks to the banter between the fat guy and the virgin as well as some hilarious scenes. There is also a reasonable amount of gore towards the end. Overall an entertaining tongue in cheek horror.

bad title pretty good black comedy,

OK everyones entitled to their opinions but when they are really, really wide of the actual mark someone needs to speak up and address the problem. Aside from the poor title this actually is a decent horror black comedy. With shades of "Texas chainsaw" "wrong turn" and numerous other road horor movies the makers of this movie inject the formulaic potential with a boost of Sam Raimi style gross out "the living in close proximity to the very dead" scenarios as well as Peter Jackson-esque squish and splurt cartoon fascination with the internal.Whilst nothing new or groundbreaking is presented here there are not many flicks on offer with this much audacity and movie grave plundering. It can be slow and pointless at one point which is enough to put the less patient gorehound off but if you stick with it till the 3rd act you are rewarded with layer upon layer of crowd pleasing carnage. The accusation that the acting is atrocious is totally erroneous unless that viewer only watches serious oscar worthy performances. There's a lot worse out there. A lot.

THE BEST HORROR COMEDY FILM OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!,
This review is from: Monster Man [DVD] (DVD)
this film has it all, comedy, graphic gore and the most original horror villan of the past 10 years. monster man is my favorite horror film of the year, it is so good that i went to see it at the cinema 4 times and trust me it is that good. Micheal Davis the director delivers a fresh and brilliant approach to a well worn area. like it said on the poster this film is duel meets jeepers creepers in texas chainsaw massecra country. but please give this fim a chance, having been given very little in the way of advertising this film should be seen by as many people possible.the two many charcters Adam and Harley are played brilliantly by Eric Jungman and Justin Urich, who play two friends who fell out over a girl at college but end up on a road trip to this girls wedding after Harley hid away in adams back seat, then after that it is one rollercoaster of a ride untill the suprisingly gory end. along the way these two arguing friends pick up the hitchiker Sarah played by Aimee Brooks, who ends up being the center of the two main characters attenion, which creates some extremly funny moments during this film. what this film does do very well is to throw suprise after surprise at the audience keeping you constantly on your toes untill the very end. so go and buy this film or rent it but you must see this very under rated give to a try because when you watch the ending you will not be dissapointed by the out come and also it has to be one of the gorest endings ever commited to film.
