The ONLY reason i bought this book, aside from the fact the covers nice...
Is that i have no time to go through the game working out every little detail.. I'm not saying i wouldn't enjoy spending an entire day trying to locate something important. I just don't have the time anymore.. blame the GF, she just sits there moaning... So i decided if i was going to get anywhere, i'd have to cut a few corners.
Good detail inside, answers many of the FAQs we all have, and i even printed out a photo bookmark using the descriptive picture on this site!

Well, some of it is correct... 29 Jan. 2005
By Gmanic - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Not much to say except the bulk of this guide is wrong. Someone's even written a FAQ on GameFaqs.com to correct all the errors that are in this guide!

Recommendation: Avoid.
Fantastic Guide! The nostalgia is real!!! 27 Jun. 2015

Ignore the previous reviews left by others. This strategy guide is one that should be used mainly for nostalgic purposes. Since the first monster hunter game is over ten years old. I highly recommend this guide. I have owned dozens of guides over the years and this one is by far the most visual pleasing and informing. This guide shows pictures of all monsters, armors, weapons, etc. as well.

Informative 2 Aug. 2006
By Gameboy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I find this guide useful in that it shows pictures of dragons and dinosaurs that are coming up in future levels that I have to deal with. It's also cool to see pictures of the various types of weapons and armor that can be bought or created. There is some useful information in this guide. For me, the visuals are important since online guides are only text. As far as the specifics such as item locations and such, I cannot say whether the guide is accurate or not. In my opinion, this guide is really cool reading with a visual rep of things in the game. If you get online and get all the text faqs and guides and combine them with this guide, then it's worth it. Just make sure you compare them together to be sure of accuracy. If money isn't tight, I recommend this guide.

Not worth it 6 Sept. 2005
By Jatanscapsule - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
this guide is not worth it. if you are thinking of buying it. please dont. I play the game online, and I am more than willing to suply people with information when they ask. I have over 500 hours of experience, on this game, so I know what I am doing..but I have played with some people that were new to the game and had this guide...and it was more annoying to me than helpful to them. a lot of the information is bogus. its better to just ask for help then to think you know what you're doing and have someone get mad at you. take my advice. its not worth it:).

Monster Hunter Manual 3 Mar. 2009
By Brandon E. Hammond - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
The ultimate Monster Hunter compendium minus a few small errors on weapons tree. Over all gives the lay out of weapons armor and monster parts. It also includes a decent amount of stratefy for the more annoying monsters.
