About the Author

Francette lives in Massachusetts with her amazingly supportive husband of ten years and her darling two year old son. Reading amazing books has led her to writing and she’s dabbled in fan-fiction before self-publishing her own works. She’s constantly thinking up new stories to write and does her best work when music is playing in the background. Romance is where she’s most comfortable but she hopes to one day venture in mystery novels. She has a weakness for coffee ice cream, tropical fruits and a good glass of wine.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 stars from me 25 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
well an interesting read. the only reason I didn't rate it higher is because I was waiting for that moment where it goes bang but it didn't happen, got a bit stale near the end. very hot and steamy but no real action. I did like it but didn't love it. although was good for the price I paid

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Story Worth the Read! 14 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Francette Madou Phal is one of my favorite authors she also wrote “The Bet Series” and the “Concubine” all of which I have read and were excellent reads. However, Monster is in a totally different stratosphere as far as I am concerned. The book is extremely well written and is her best book so far in my opinion!

This is Dominic and Eden Armstrong’s story.

Dominic is truly a tyrant for sure, he is oppressive, a dictator, bully, ultimate alpha male and truly damaged from his background, a very hard and complex man. This does not mean he is unlovable and cannot be redeemed. He needs the love and understanding of a good woman. He has that but does not recognize what he has until it is too late.

Eden starts out submissive totally dominated by Dominic but there is chemistry/attraction between them. Eden does not know her own internal strength and power to master Dominic until something unplanned and totally unexpected happens. Eden uses her intelligence and out smarts Dominic at this point in the story. Eden is a loving, forgiving strong woman who is resilient enough to love a man like Dominic, which makes her kick ass in my book!

This story captivated my attention from page 1. This book is in my top 5 of what a great read is in my definition, totally engrossing, jaw dropping intense and an emotional roller coaster of a story!! There is a scene in this book where I literally read it with my mouth hanging open because I could not believe what Dominic asked Eden to do and she did it! At this point I was like you have got to kidding me. I actually found it very difficult to find the words to express/describe just how great this story is, again in my view. At first Dominic will absolutely make you want to slap him but if you can persevere with him you will come to love him as I do!! He is totally worth it!!!

I highly recommend this read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating dark read 14 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A very well deserved 5 stars for this book Francette made this a masterpiece with amazing writing and characters that are so good at times you love to hate them.

Dominic - a beautifully complicated man, damaged by his past, he's the ultimate alpha male, but underneath is still a little boy that longs for love.

Eden - strong, resilient, compassionate and forgiving, but she's no pushover she'll do whatever she has to to get through life even if it's alone.

I loved this book it's one I'll be reading again without a doubt

2.0 out of 5 stars Abusive?? 8 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase

This book is genuinely I good book. However it seems to be that the couple's relationship is abusive but Eden doesn't seek her protection, she just runs. When Eden explains what living with Dominic used too be like the extreme abuse is evident. There's a fine line during this book the line is so clearly crossed it made me uncomfortable to read. This lead me on too consider if or if not the author was justifying abusive relations as soon as Eden takes back control of the life she lost she is forced back into Dominic's control but stays there choosing to be with him after he propositions her and she does what is asked of her!?! Showing that Eden is clearly not as a strong of a character as you would have hoped. Not only this her best friend also attempts too seduce Dominic however once finding out she forgives her best friend, showing how much of a sloppy weak character she is. This really bugged me and so ruined the book for me as well as the possible glamorization of domestic violence within relationships.

3.0 out of 5 stars MONSTER 31 Mar 2014
Dominic and Eden had been married for five years. This is not a happy marriage, Dominic is as the title of this story says a monster, but Eden was his enabler IMO. They married for all he wrong reasons. Dominic stole Eden away from his younger brother to save him from her clutches. Dominic's view of Eden was that she was nothing more than an opportunist. To a certain extent this was true, her mother had died leaving large debts. Eden turned to stripping to pay off the money owed. But a rich, powerful and handsome man like Dominic offered her a solution.

But Eden has had enough of Dominic's treatment of her and puts a plan into action that's been a long time in the making. But she still doesn't realise that Dominic holds all the cards.

I liked this story, even with its flaws, and it did have them IMO. Dominic's treatment of Eden was awful. He was verbally and emotionally abusive. But he wasn't violent, yes the sex was often rough leaving Eden with bruises but she seemed okay with that aspect of their marriage. There was a scene near the beginning of this where Dominic overstepped the mark IMO , and it wasn't the first time it had happened. Now harping back to the fact that Dominic didn't beat her I just didn't understand why she just didn't say no!

I wasn't especially keen on the two leads, although Dominic's character did show a lot of growth. The supporting cast of characters were okay. The editing was an issue as well, I've read this authors work before I would have hoped she would have sorted out getting her books properly edited.
