Saw this band live at the O2 Brixton Academy (supporting Bring Me the Horizon) and bought this CD as a result.

Not disappointed. Have been listening to it on repeat in the car.

Hope they bring out something new soon as it would be on my auto buy list.

This is a great CD. I happened to see the band at the recent "Weight of the World" tour in Vancouver and Whistler and I was so impressed with the CD. A great balance of intelligent, heavy and melodic. I liked it so much this is my FIRST review!

Sights & Sounds are a really, really talented group of individuals. All coming from different musical backgrounds, everything comes together quite well with Monolith. There are some very, very strong tracks on this album, which I hope they expand on. I prefer the sound they shell out in songs like "Sorrows", "The Clutter", and "Neighbours" but the album is a tremendous first release.

The Clutter is, to me, by far the strongest track on the album. It's absolutely haunting in every possible way, from the slow start to the absolutely brooding, Nadja-like climax, distorted drones and all. It's about as perfect as it can be, and as I said before, I hope they expand on that sound.

Sorrows is another stand-out track on the album. It's by far the heaviest song, with some metal undertones happening here in there, primarily the atmospheric black metal-sounding part at 1:27. It caught me off guard, but that first chord honestly reminded me of Wolves in the Throne Room. It quickly but smoothly switched back to their post-hardcore sound, though, and you can't help but smile when hearing it.

A few of the tracks seem to not belong, such as the more punk-inspired songs like "Shudder St. Kilda" and "Storm and the Sun." They're both good songs, but they seem to not belong on the album.

In closing, Monolith is a beautiful, powerful, and deeply moving debut from a band that I expect to accomplish amazing things. It's definitely worth a purchase, or at least a listen. Good job, guys.
