Product Description

Book Description

Jon Lucke is a thirty-something adman with an unhappy marriage, a failing business and a lifetime of disappointments – until he has a chance meeting with the urbane, ultra-rich Marco Brancusi...
Jon is lured into Marco’s orbit and catapulted with bewildering speed into a world of glittering success, where it seems all he has ever dreamed of is at last within his reach...
And that’s just the book-within-the-book, created by the reclusive David O’Connor...
Gradually David’s alter ego begins to see what he has lost in gaining a life of power and luxury; and when the true nature of what he’s involved in begins to unfold, he has to make some dangerously difficult choices...
And from then on, you’re never quite sure what’s real and what’s not...
Part Faust-with-a-twist, part Hollywood-style blockbuster, Monkey Trap zips along, mingling psycho-spiritual insight with out-and-out adventure in an entertaining and thought-provoking mix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enourously enjoyable, 24 Mar 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Monkey Trap (Paperback)
I'm no literary critic but I do enjoy a good read and I enjoyed this one enormously. Marcus Bolt's debut novel kicks off at a hell of a lick and he keeps up the pace to the final pages. As Jon Lucke is being seduced into a world of wealth and power so are we, the reader. And we're only too willing to go along for the ride! Great fun alround.

5.0 out of 5 stars a book to be read by you and your animal, 15 Oct 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Monkey Trap (Paperback)
In 'Monkey Trap', Marcus Bolt has managed that most difficult of tasks, writing about a spiritual journey using the medium of a fictional novel. The journey, as indeed it must be, is rooted in the here-and-now and demonstrates how the very place we inhabit, the very composition of ourselves, is at the heart of the spiritual experience. Although his proposition is not new, that each of us have the four forces - material, vegetable, animal and human - active within us, the way he develops the idea of the animal force being the driving motivator in the race for global dominance is very appropriate for the experience the world is having right now.
So if you are interested in human psychology, a spiritual journey, or just like a good story well-told, then I highly recommend that you read this book.
