About the Author

Gil Johnson is a former primary teacher, advisory teacher and school inspector. She has wide experience in early literacy development and a special interest in the development of writing. She has contributed articles to publications such as Language Matters and the Times Educational Supplement, and was a member of the government working party (the Dearing group) on the first revisions to the National Curriculum in English in 1994.
