This is the story of a south of England monkey sanctuary. I bought it purely for me, but the kids soon joined me, and banned me from watching it on my own - "better than Eastenders" they said.
It concentrates on the story of some of the monkeys and apes. I found it a little odd that some stories from the middle of winter were supposed to be happening at the same time as the frozen ice lollies due to a heat wave, and I could not really understand why the two stories needed to be interleaved like that - still, that is probably just me. The social interactions of the animals are fascinating, but so are the keepers, whose relationships with the animals can be even more interesting than the relationships between animals.
If you do watch it with your children, prepare for floods of tears in the last episode, due to the unexpected death of one of the founders of the sanctuary... I am not giving much away here as each of the episodes goes out in his memory.
