This is a solidly build piece of kit for the 30 pin type ipods and iphones although it will also connect via a 3.5mm auxiliary jack input, and it's manufacturer could not come with a better pedigree! Monitor audio are famous for it's loudspeakers, and the other ipod docks they have produced have been well received.
On turn on, the dock puts out a test tone to equalise bass relative to it's position and self adjusts, then it's ready to go. It will repeat this process every time it has it's power disrupted/moved to a different room. Out of the box it is clear that this a quality item. Sound is distinct and powerful but it will certainly benefit from a good run in period. There is a decent quantity of bass for such a small cabinet size, midrange is good but the treble is just short of sharp. It is this element of the sound which shows great improvement with use. Tonally it is similar to B&W's Zeppelin Mini but with more available power. The handset is just about functional...an example of style over substance perhaps.
I managed to get mine from a large electrical retailer as an ex display model for the princely sum of £75 fully boxed and in perfect condition (the dust was free!). An impulse purchase which I couldn't resist. If you get a chance for this type of silly money grab it as you will not be able to buy better. One other point, you could attach a bluetooth adaptor to this via the auxiliary input (Neet Bluetooth DAC) and use it with a tablet!

For this price the ideck 100 represents unbelievable value. I suspect it is priced down to clear due to it no longer being manufactured; but I maybe wrong about that. If it is still available then get one. It is much much better than anything else I checked out in the price range. In fact It was much better than anything I tried, and I looked at quite a few from £100 to £500. I prefer proper hifi and so wanted something compact but punchy for a small room. I brought this based on Amazon reviews as I couldn't find anyone on the high street selling it. The sound quality really surprised me. Whether playing classical, folk or indie it rose to the various challenges brilliantly. It has depth, clarity and power in spades. Truly a revelation for someone new to the ipod world like me. It's a heavy wee thing so the kit inside is weighty both in terms of substance and quality. The only downside is the silly remote which is like something out of a low rent seventies sci fi film. Although it is styled to compliment the unit, it is naff and works only reluctantly. It's also pretty basic and so you have to use the ipod menus most of the time. The style of the unit itself will not please everyone, but I like it, even though it looks like something the Pope might put on his head.

For the price and sound quality you can forgive them a dodgy remote. It really is the bargain of the year.

Excellent sound quality with a touch of design style.

Only negatives are that the ipod/iphone technology has moved on so only works with earlier ipods (4th gen touch)

It does have an aux input which i use while staying in hotels for the laptop for watching movies.

Wouild be great if theer was a dac or usb input too but at the price there is no compettition.

Plugged into the aux input using the above it sound very good. The sound is less boomy and more controlled. With the dolry you have airplay so your device is in your hand , where it should be. It is worth the extra e pence for a already good sounding dock.
