I bought this book on recommendation from the Mother in Law who'd been following it in the Express.
I was attracted to the ordinary sensibleness of the food, and the fact that each week is different.
My Other Half follows the diet along with me, except that I make him sandwiches to take to work, there's not enough calories for a man on this diet! However, he's lost 10lbs, and has exchanged his crisp and biscuit habit for fruit without complaint.
I take my lunch to work with me, a salad in a plastic container, and it's become a simple matter to shop for the week, making both our lunches whilst I cook dinner, which limits the amount of time hanging around the kitchen.
Week Three is a bit of a challenge, not so much for me, as I love vegetarian food, so am perfectly happy with noodles and stirfry veg etc, but the Other Half is not so keen. However, roasting vegetables, flavouring rice with chili's, garlic and herbs etc have all met with approval.
So far I'm on the third cycle of the diet and have lost 20lbs, which equates to 3 inches off each of my bust waist and hips.
The first ten pounds dropped off in the first three weeks, and I'm steadily losing an average of 2lbs a week.
Monica talks in a frank and sensible way, this is not a great thick tome, but it's light enough to keep in your bag when you go shopping.
Top Tip for making sandwiches - I was like a dog drooling over a bone, strings of saliva, the works, making his sandwiches, mmmmmm breeeeeaaaaddddd!
So now I make them out of frozen bread, wrap in foil, leave them in the fridge to defrost for the next day. (I know I could make it even easier on myself to get HIM to make them, but it's nice to do the little things sometimes isn't it?)
Do it. It's easy and you might just surprise yourself.
