More of these please! 15 Aug 2009
Format:Paperback
This book hit just the right note with my 10 year-old who is desperate
for something with a bit of substance - but still doesn't have the
tenacity to cope with a full length murder mystery like Agatha Christie.
He's mad about murder mysteries on TV so this was exactly what we needed.

Mondays are Magic! 13 Aug 2009
Format:Paperback
I loved this book and my year six class loved it too. It's a fast paced murder mystery where the main suspects get knocked off left right and centre, leaving you to wonder to the very end, if it really could be ghosts. My children enjoyed the ingenious and gorey plot. Poppy fields is a breath of fresh air as the inquisitive protagonist who teams up with an unlikely companion to make sense of the devastation going on around her. We are all looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

By M. Hall TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This book is part of the Poppy Fields series and this set is excellent for youngsters that are into mysteries. After retrieving it back from my 10 year old cousin (who is lets say a reluctant reader) on a short loan, she surprisingly couldn't wait to tell me all about it. The plot is well thought out, and it keeps you turning the pages and guessing right until the very end. Would like to read more in the series.

I won't spoil it too much but just a brief blurb - Poppy's first adventure sees her on a remote Scottish island where the organisers in a trial week for a new outdoor adventure centre are dying one by one.

Very cheap book (all are in this series) and I can highly recommend this. I did have a quick read myself, and despite it not been my cup of tea, it was easy to see how those of primary school age many find it interesting and unpredictable. Recommended book.

An entertaining and idiosyncratic wine guide, mainly for (well heeled)...
This isn't like any other wine book I've read, its personal and idiosyncratic, and most surprisingly Mr Hoggart makes few personal comments on the wines, leaving this to experts. Read more
