I wanted to own a Mondaine watch for a long time and I was very undecided between this watch and the Mondaine Sports Night Vision. In the end I went for this watch, since the face looked more like the original Swiss Railway Clock than the Night Vision watch with the illuminated hands and hour markers.
Unfortunately I regretted my choice from the moment I unpacked the watch. While the placement of the day and date marker looked fine in the picture, the face seemed somewhat unbalanced since the day was very much bigger than the date. It doesn't look like that in the picture, but on my arm the difference was there. In fact, I hard a hard time reading the date. If they had been the same size the face would have been much more appealing. To me, that is; others may disagree, of course.
I also noticed that when changing the day or date the operation seemed somewhat sluggish. I could not just speedwind past unwanted days or dates, but had to slowly and painstakingly move forward, a day or date at a time.
On the plus side, my watch model had a steel bracelet which locked securely and nicely, without a visible clasp. Very elegant.
In the end, or actually very soon, as I became more and more annoyed looking at my "unbalanced" watch, I decided to return it and exchange it for the Mondaine Sports Night Vision. You can read my review of that watch there.
