The title already says it all: this is an excellent overview on the political history of ancient Egypt. Methodically facts and fiction about pharaos and dynasties are discussed which makes this a must-read if you're interested in the politics of ancient Egypt. After this one you'll know much of what is known about the pharaos and, maybe even more important, you'll know what is fact and what is theory. Politics is the sole subject of this book and it never drifts away from this subject, so if you'r interested in social or cultural history you should better skip this one. This book can very well be compared with 'Chronicle of the pharaos' of Peter Clayton, with the difference that this one is less visual and written from a somewhat more scientific point of view.
